J.M. “Bo” and Juanita Brewer will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on Saturday, Aug. 11 at their home.  

They were married on Aug. 15, 1942 in Corsicana. Bo, son of Mattie and Malford Brewer married Juanita Derrick, daughter of Mamie Myers and Ira Dotson Derrick, on a hot August afternoon. The couple predominantly lived in Corsicana the majority of their marriage.          

They have three children, Roger Brewer of Grand Prairie; Ronnie Brewer of Chico; and Regina Brewer Vargas of Grand Prairie.  They have been blessed with six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.  

Bo Brewer is one of the few remaining survivors of World War II having received three bronze stars (A personal decoration for valorous service). Juanita has dedicated her life to being a wife and mother. Bo and Juanita owned and operated Brewer's Gulf Station on the corner of Seventh Avenue and 24th Street for over 25 years. The station was known for its customer service and mechanical service to the people of Corsicana. Now days many people know Mom and Dad as the couple with the white cat that rides in their truck.  So if you see a green pickup with a white cat riding on the dash, take a second look and feel free to congratulate them on 70 years of marriage, friendship, and love one for the other.
