Corsicana Brick Street Farmers Market is a member of the Texas Certified Farmers Market Corporation (TCFMC). Each year TCFMC awards one $1500 Marvin George Jr. Memorial Scholarship to a graduating senior or current college student with the intentions of pursuing a degree in an agricultural field. The Navarro County Republican Party will host a “Relief and Recovery” reception at 6 p.m. at the Cook Center, 3100 W. Collin Ave., at Navarro College in Corsicana. The guest speaker will be Texas Railroad Commissioner and U.S. Senator candidate Elizabeth Ames Jones, along with U.S. Congressman Joe Barton. There will be hors d’oeuvres, with wine and beer available, and a special dessert table prepared by the Navarro County Republican Women. The public is invited. The Corsicana “Y” and VOICE will be partnering to offer “Healthy Kids Day” from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the IOOF Park, located between 45th St. and Hwy. 22, Corsicana. The program will offer a focus on healthy children and families while providing fun and activities. This event is free to all children and families, and will feature bounce houses, free hot dogs, t-shirts, giveaways, and family fun. Corsicana Police Officer’s Association will be hosting its Third Annual Johnnie N. Derden Memorial Golf Tournament, Four Man Florida Scramble at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Oak Trail Golf Course. Tee times are on a first come first serve basis. A combined handicap for each team must be 40 or over. KESA Easter Style Show and Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. at the KESA building. The stars will be the cutest kids in Kerens and the Easter Bunny. Swing for the Cure Golf Tournament to benefit the American Cancer Society Relay for Life , is having a “Four-Man Scramble.” The cost is $62.50 per person or $250 per team. There will be individual and team awards given away for first, second, and third places. They will have a “Closest to the Pin,” “Hole in One,” and “Longest Drive Contest” after the tournament. There will be food and drinks for sale at the course. All proceeds go to The Relay for Life (Navarro County). Texas Smokin’ Gun’s Club will be having a “Cowboy Mounted Shooting Demonstration” beginning at 5 p.m. at Lone Star Cowboy Church arena, 4495 W. Hwy. 22, Corsicana. Dawson Lions Club will hold a supper and auction fundraiser at 5:30 p.m. in the Dawson High School Cafeteria. The club invites everyone in the area to attend — charitable donations will be, for the most part, spent in the City of Dawson. The menu will include baked ham, baked beans, potato salad, peach cobbler, iced tea, and coffee, with all the trimmings. Donations will be accepted for the meal. The auction will follow the meal. Come ready to be tempted by the homemade pies and cakes as well as items donated by area merchants and craftsmen. Proceeds from the meal and auction will got to support Texas Lions Camp for physically challenged children, Lone Star Eye Bank, scholarships and eye exams, glasses for Dawson ISD students, mental health, and other local school and community projects.



Hubbard Lions Club is hosting their Third Annual Fish Fry from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Adult plates will be $8, and Children plates (10 & under) will be $3 — this includes “all the fixings.” To Go plates will be available. The club only hosts two fundraisers each year, on in the spring and the other in the fall, with a chili supper on Hubbard's Homecoming night. Corsicana Police Officer Association asks everyone to support a raffle/fundraiser for the Officer Relief Fund. A Rock River M-4 rifle has been donated for the raffle by Jesse’s Gun Shop and Dr. Justin Pillans. The winner must be eligible to possess and purchase a gun. The tickets will be $5 per ticket, or $20 for five tickets. The drawing will be held May 5. To purchase tickets, contact any off-duty CPOA member, or through Jesse Bonner at Jessie’s Gun Shop.

The Texas Youth Commission  will hold a community meeting on Saturday to receive input from community members regarding the possible closure or expansion of the Corsicana Residential Treatment Center in Corsicana. The meeting will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Navarro College Dawson Auditorium, located at 3200 West 7th Avenue, Corsicana.
