Corsicana's slow start to the 2009 season continued Tuesday night as the Tigers were defeated by Rockwall-Heath, 58-42.
Although outscoring Heath 34-29 in the second half, the Tigers slow start at the beginning of the game kept them from obtaining their first win of the year.
The Rockwall defense shutdown the Tiger offense in the first half, only allowing eight points. The same could not be said for the Tiger defense as they gave up 29.
Corsicana came out of the half strong and added 17 points in the third quarter while holding Heath to 15. Corsicana continued to put up points and outscored the Hawks, 17-14, in the fourth quarter.
The Hawks were led by the 6-4 post, Demi Leonard, who had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. He also dominted the paint with 7 blocks on the night.
The Tigers were led by the senior Antonie Chaney who had 20 points and four steals. Corey Wilson also played well, tallying eight points with nine boards.
Bench points made a difference in the game with Heath outscoring Corsicana, 25-9.
