Woman’s Club House Association
The telephone committee of Woman’s Club House Association will present Connie Jordan, owner of Jordan Art Gallery, as the guest speaker at the Jan. 14 luncheon at Kinsloe House. Her topic will be “Repainting Your Life.”
Jordan is an abstract artist and has supported herself with her art since she was 18 years old. She never realized that her life was unusual until people began to ask her how she made a living as an artist. Her response is always “I don’t make a living from my art — I make a life!”
Her work has been shown around the world and has been purchased by various celebrities as well as by everyday people. She does not feel she has lived some kind of charmed life; she just took a different path than most artists seem to take. The book, “RePaint Your Life: Create a Life in Art,” was written about Jordan. It is her way of showing other artists that they can make a living in art. She recently opened an art gallery to help artists get a head start in the art world. She is also sharing her knowledge of art with children as well as adults. Her goal is to help artists make a living in art and to teach others the importance of art and the artists that create it.
One of Jordan’s artists in residence is donating a painting for the Woman’s Club House Association spring raffle which will begin with this meeting. The committee invites all Kinsloe members to attend this luncheon meeting and bring a friend. Reservations should be made by noon Jan. 12 by calling Kinsloe House at (903) 874-5791.
