Grandview originally rescheduled last Friday's game against Hillsboro for Saturday, but the game was cancelled ... Blooming Grove was able to play one quarter at home against Riesel and cancelled the game with the score tied at zero ... Blooming Grove held the Indians to no first downs or pass attempts and allowed 14 yards on four carries ... the Lions gained nine first downs in one quarter of play and carried the ball 14 times for 84 yards ... Michael Lunceford led the team with 47 yards on five carries while Trey Davis rushed six times for 39 yards.

UPDATE: Maypearl won last year’s meeting, 35-10, despite gaining only 157 yards … the Panthers are coming off a lightnening-shortened 13-6 win over Venus … Mildred lost to Wortham, 27-6, its first loss to the Bulldogs in eight years … last year the two teams combined to go 0 for 5 passing on a wet night … Vaughn is dual-threat, running 20 times for 46 yards and passing for 125 yards and a combined 2 TDs in a 15-12 win over Blooming Grove … Weatherford was an all-district pick last season … Maypearl lost seven starters from last year’s team … Mildred will likely be without All-Golden Circle LB Kevin Dozier, who injured his right knee against Wortham … pressed into RB duties last week, sophomore Daniel Folsom is 17th (19-86, TD) in the area in rushing and ninth in receiving (6-50), both of which lead the Eagles … it is homecoming in Mildred.

UPDATE: The Lions beat Rice,45-26, last season and lead the all-time series 3-0 … Last week, after being postponed Friday night, the Bulldogs picked up their first win of the season by beating Cross Roads, 12-0, on Saturday afternoon. Life School was scheduled to play Boles, but the game was cancelled due to the weather … The Lion offense is explosive, averaging 515 yards and 47.5 points per game … QB Malcolm Trail is 27-49-0 for 463 yards and 5 touchdowns this season for Life School … Michael Williams and Carvin Thompson combined for 23 carries and 271 yards in the Lions’ win over Eustace two weeks ago … Rice looks to control the clock and keep the Life offense off the field by exploiting a Bulldog run defense that is giving up 336 yards per game … The Rice ground game is led by FB Austin Anderson, who had his first career 100-yard rushing game in last week’s victory.

Update: Last year, Perrin-Whitt Coach Brad Hutton led the Pirates to their first playoff appearance since 1987 … the Pirates starting QB and leading rusher from last year’s 8-3 squad graduated … this season the Pirates have beaten Chico (15-9) and lost to Wichita Falls – City View (35-6) … the Pirates allowed 331 rushing yards to City View … the Polar Bears defense limited Ponder to six plays and four yards in the fourth quarter of their 40-29 victory last week … in the game LB Philip Page had nine tackles (including one for a loss) and a pass break-up, LB Danial Steels had a sack, and DBs Ty Ritterbach and Travis Cassady each had interceptions … Cassady returned his pick 17 yards for the game’s final score …Ritterbach passed for 57 yards and two key fourth quarter conversions on 5 of 5 passing.

UPDATE: The Hubbard Jaguars visit the Bartlett Bulldogs in the final non-district game for both teams. Bartlett is looking to continue its unbeaten record on the season, while Hubbard will be fighting for its first victory ... Quarterback Gabriel Gradison has rushed for four out of the five Bulldog touchdowns this season, one of which he broke free for a 56-yard run ... Jaguars quarterback Lance McClain has scored six out of eight touchdowns while rushing for 50 percent of all Hubbard’s total rushing yards in the first three games this season ... Hubbard has averaged 229 rushing yards per game ... Last year’s matchup was played in Hubbard and won by Bartlett, 41-19.

UPDATE: The Dawson Bulldogs make the long trek to De Leon this Friday after lightening delayed, and ultimately canceled their showdown with Cayuga last week … the Bulldogs got off to a slow start in that 13 minutes of play … this Friday Dawson hopes for payback against a Bearcat team that dished out a 35-7 homecoming-night loss in 2008 at Mitchell Field … De Leon's defense was tough in that meeting, limiting the Bulldogs to only 200 yards of offense … rushing leader Shaw accounted for 40 of Dawson's 170 rushing yards in the loss … through two complete games in 2009 the Bulldogs have been impressive, averaging almost ten yards-per-rushing attempt … Dawson's defense has allowed opponents only 156 rushing yards in the same span … no opponent has scored against the Bulldogs during the third quarter all season.

Update: Wortham will be looking to avenge a 39-0 loss to Buffalo last season and build even more momentum before beginning district play in two weeks….Wortham’s offense will once again be lead by the duo of Jake Jones and Cameron Price who combined for 337 rushing yards and four touchdowns in there 27-6 victory against Mildred….Buffalo will be looking for its second consecutive victory after a 28-14 win over Elkhart….Buffalo is lead by their senior QB Jordan Canady and RB Auerlio Dominguez who rushed for 182 yards and two touchdowns in the win.

GC Girls Roundup: Lady Tigers fall to Jackets, 46-29
The Corsicana Lady Tiger basketball team suffered a tough 46-29 loss Friday night to the Cleburne Lady Jackets.
Amber Ames and Tauren Kitchen led the Tigers with 14 and 9 points, but it was not enough to give the Lady Tigers a victory. -
GC Boys Roundup: Dozier, Mildred beat Rice
Mildred defeated Rice 55-28 on Friday night.
Kevin Dozier led the Eagles with 23 points while Nic Shimonek had 16 of his own to boost Mildred to a victory on Friday. -

The Corsicana Tigers boys basketball team lost a 49-48 heartbreaker to the Cleburne Yellow Jackets Friday night.

Rice’s White, 4 from Mildred make Academic All-State
Rice middle linebacker Keith White said he’ll know sometime soon whether or not he’ll be the school’s valedictorian for the 2010 senior class.
