Lady Tigers stage unbelievable comeback against Midlothian
MIDLOTHIAN — After a nip and tuck first half that ended with Corsicana taking a slim 25-23 lead into the intermission, Midlothian exploded for an 18-2 run in the third quarter to lead 41-27 going into the final period.
Looking to put the game away the Lady Panthers continued to push the lead with a 6-1 run to lead 47-28 for an apparent rout with 5:30 left in the game.
But the Tigers had other ideas.
After a timeout the Lady Tigers bursted onto the floor to record the biggest comeback ever recorded in Midlothian’s Panther Arena.
Using an all out blitzing full court pressure defense the Lady Tigers forced Midlothian into 10 turnovers in the final five minutes of play.
Every turnover turned into points for the Lady Tigers and the defense held the host team scoreless to knot the game at 47-47 at the end of regulation play.
The tenacious Lady Tigers’ press only caused two Midlothian turnovers in the overtime period, but that was enough as the Lady Tigers put up 10 points, six on free throws and a pair of jump shots to put the game on ice, 57-53.
Semethia Fielder scored 18 points in the contest, 13 over the last nine minutes of the game, to lead the Lady Tigers scoring.
Also scoring in double figures were Amber Ames (12), Amari Dowell (12) and Capricia Jones (10).
Midlothian was led by sophomore Natalie Ruud with 19 points, including four from 3-point land for the post player.
Rachael Walters (16) and Cameron Hartson (12) also hit double figures for the Panthers.

GC Girls Roundup: Lady Tigers fall to Jackets, 46-29
The Corsicana Lady Tiger basketball team suffered a tough 46-29 loss Friday night to the Cleburne Lady Jackets.
Amber Ames and Tauren Kitchen led the Tigers with 14 and 9 points, but it was not enough to give the Lady Tigers a victory.

Rice’s White, 4 from Mildred make Academic All-State
Rice middle linebacker Keith White said he’ll know sometime soon whether or not he’ll be the school’s valedictorian for the 2010 senior class.
He knows for certain he’s a Class 2A Academic All-State team member.
