The Corsicana Lady Tiger basketball team suffered a tough 46-29 loss Friday night to the Cleburne Lady Jackets.
Amber Ames and Tauren Kitchen led the Tigers with 14 and 9 points, but it was not enough to give the Lady Tigers a victory.
Jacqueline Chandlers’ 18 points did the job for Cleburne and gave the Lady Jackets their 16th win of the season.
The Lady Tigers fell to 6-16 on the season, 0-8 in District 16-4A.
Mildred 35, Rice 33: The Mildred Lady Eagles slipped by the Lady Bulldogs of Rice with a 35-33 victory Friday.
Hannah Muncy’s 12 points and Nadia Washington’s 9 helped Mildred to a victory.
Stephanie Martin had seven points while Ali Barker, Celina Smithers, and Kanesia Daniels all had six but it was not enough to beat the Lady Eagles.
Kerens 65, Sunnyvale 22: The Lady Bobcats of Kerens keep winning as they added a 65-22 beating of Sunnyvale to their 18-7 record.
Michell Jordan was the Lady Bobcats’ too scorer with 18, while Nicole Kelm, Taneque Williams, and Jacie Tolliver added scores of 13, 12, and 11 to the Kerens scoreboard.
Kerens’ defense played great only allowing 3 points in the fourth quarter to remain tied for the district lead.
Cayuga 60, Wortham 48: Cayuga defeated the Wortham Lady Bulldogs 60-48 Friday night.
After a close first half, the Lady Wildcats picked up the pace and scored 31 in the second half.
Jasmine Bailey’s 24 and Ki’Undrea Smith’s 19 weren’t enough to lift Wortham over Cayuga.
Hubbard 66, Dawson 23: Hubbard ran over Dawson Friday night 66-23 to give the Lady Jaguars’ their 22nd win of the season.
Africa Lang put up 22 points against the Dawson defense while Iesha Simmons and Rayven Cornish added scores of 14 and 13 of their own.
Brittany Carr led Dawson with eight points in the loss.
Frost 31, Penelope 23: Frost added to its 12-8 record Friday night as the Lady Polar Bears beat Penelope 31-23.
Krystal Jackson racked up 9 points while Patricia Garcia both scored 6.
Frost played excellent defense only allowing scores of three and two in the second and third quarters.

GC Boys Roundup: Dozier, Mildred beat Rice
Mildred defeated Rice 55-28 on Friday night.
Kevin Dozier led the Eagles with 23 points while Nic Shimonek had 16 of his own to boost Mildred to a victory on Friday. -

Rice’s White, 4 from Mildred make Academic All-State
Rice middle linebacker Keith White said he’ll know sometime soon whether or not he’ll be the school’s valedictorian for the 2010 senior class.
