The Difference: The Lions forced five Scurry-Rosser turnovers. In the 3rd Quarter, the Lions defense led by FS Matt Bayer, LB Dalton Leopard, LB Gage Anderson, and S Michael Lunceford pressurized Wildcat QB Seth Farmer, had an interception, and recovered two fumbles – including a fumble return for a touchdown.
Standouts: QB Da Vante Starling completed 7 of 10 passes for 122 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Game Notes: The Lions led at halftime 13-10 after QB Da Vante Starling hit WR Landon McGraw on a bubble-screen to the inside slot receiver for a 41-yard touchdown … Scurry-Rosser clawed back by opening the 3rd quarter with a 73-yard kickoff return touchdown by Carlos Cruz … With rising momentum, Scurry-Rosser DT Josh Dickey recovered a Lion fumble on Blooming Grove’s next possession. Then the Lions defense roared back by forcing a fumble resulting in Michael Lunceford’s 43-yard fumble return for a touchdown … Aftert rading touchdowns, Blooming Grove’s Matt Bayer intercepted a Seth Farmer pass and returned it 37-yards. That set the Lions up, down 4 points with over 3 minutes to play in the 3rdquarter, at the Scurry-Rosser 25-yard line. Three plays later, Starling rolled to his left and hit WR Jordan Tennell with a over-the-right shoulder pass for the go-ahead touchdown.
Stat of the game: Scurry-Rosser’s offense out-gained Blooming Grove’s in yardage (269 to 216) and first downs (17 to 9), but Blooming Grove outscored Scurry-Rosser 28-14 in the 3rd quarter to take control of the game.

GC Girls Roundup: Lady Tigers fall to Jackets, 46-29
The Corsicana Lady Tiger basketball team suffered a tough 46-29 loss Friday night to the Cleburne Lady Jackets.
Amber Ames and Tauren Kitchen led the Tigers with 14 and 9 points, but it was not enough to give the Lady Tigers a victory. -
GC Boys Roundup: Dozier, Mildred beat Rice
Mildred defeated Rice 55-28 on Friday night.
Kevin Dozier led the Eagles with 23 points while Nic Shimonek had 16 of his own to boost Mildred to a victory on Friday. -

Rice’s White, 4 from Mildred make Academic All-State
Rice middle linebacker Keith White said he’ll know sometime soon whether or not he’ll be the school’s valedictorian for the 2010 senior class.
