Kiwanis Roundup: Frost boys nab third place, take care of Dawson, 44-31
Kyle Montgomery had 16 points and Philip Page had 13 as Frost stormed past Dawson, 44-31, in the Third Place Game on Wednesday.
Nick Renfro had 10 points for Dawson. Dustin Sanders, who missed Tuesday's game against Dawson because he was sick, had six points.
Consolation Game — Mildred 40, Rice 29: Nic Shimonek made four 3-pointers and scored 17 points as Mildred beat Rice, 40-29, in the Fifth Place Game on Wednesday.
Daniel Folsom and Drew Burnett added eight for the Eagles, who trailed by a point entering the third quarter and outscored Rice, 16-6.
Ray Crisp had 10 points for Rice.
Seventh Place Game — Wortham 46, Teague JV 33: Jake Jones had 13 points and Brandon Lansford added 11 as Wortham beat the Teague junior varsity, 46-33, in the Seventh Place Game on Wednesday.
Cooper Warren added 10 points for Wortham, which outscored Teague, 29-14, in the second half.
GIRLS
Third Place Game — Mildred 38, Italy 29: Olivia Farmer scored 12 points and Ashley Bonner had 11 as the improving Mildred Lady Eagles beat Italy, 38-29, in the Third Place Game on Wednesday.
Megan Richards had 13 points to lead Italy.
Mildred bolted out to a 12-3 start to put Italy, which had pushed No. 16 Teague the day before, in a serious hole.
Consolation Game — Dawson 42, Rice 37: Rachel Ivie had 12 points and Alicia Simmons had 10 as Dawson won the Fifth Place Game, 42-37, on Wednesday.
The game was tied at halftime and at the end of three quarters.
Celina Smithers had 12 points to lead Rice. Sara Rhodes and Alison Barker had seven each.
Seventh Place Game — Wortham 28, Frost 24: Wortham salvaged a victory out of the Kiwanis Classic with a 28-24 victory over Frost on Wednesday.
The Lady Bulldogs, who made the finals last year, played the entire tournament without point guard Anna Jones.

GC Girls Roundup: Lady Tigers fall to Jackets, 46-29
The Corsicana Lady Tiger basketball team suffered a tough 46-29 loss Friday night to the Cleburne Lady Jackets.
Amber Ames and Tauren Kitchen led the Tigers with 14 and 9 points, but it was not enough to give the Lady Tigers a victory.

GC Boys Roundup: Dozier, Mildred beat Rice
Mildred defeated Rice 55-28 on Friday night.
Kevin Dozier led the Eagles with 23 points while Nic Shimonek had 16 of his own to boost Mildred to a victory on Friday.

The Tigers took down the home team Mesquite, 3-1, on Saturday for the Silver Bracket Championship at the Mesquite Tournament.

Tigers just miss out on first win, lose to Cleburne, 49-48
The Corsicana Tigers boys basketball team lost a 49-48 heartbreaker to the Cleburne Yellow Jackets Friday night.
The Tigers came into the game focused and ready to take on the Yellow Jackets.

Rice’s White, 4 from Mildred make Academic All-State
Rice middle linebacker Keith White said he’ll know sometime soon whether or not he’ll be the school’s valedictorian for the 2010 senior class.
He knows for certain he’s a Class 2A Academic All-State team member.
