Dec. 3

Camp of the Rising Sun: Camp of the Rising Sun will present its annual holiday gala and casino night from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Halbert House, 125 W. Third Ave., Corsicana. There will be fun, prizes, carriage rides and an auction of beautifully decorated Christmas trees. Tickets are $30 per couple or $15 individual. Dec. 4

Downtown Open House: Many Corsicana downtown businesses will participate in an open house from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitors can register at the stores to win door prizes with the winners being announced at the Festival of Lights award ceremony.

First Baptist Church: A winter festival will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Rice. Entertainment will be by Clint Moody Band. There will be face painting, cake walk, bounce house, pictures with Santa and lots more. Donations will benefit the community and The Salvation Army Angel Tree. Palace Theatre: Ball in the House, an all-male a cappella group from Boston, Mass., will present a holiday show at the Palace Theatre, 112 W. Sixth Ave., Corsicana, at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Opening the 6 p.m. show will be Darrell Ferguson, winner of Navarro County’s Got Talent. Third Ave.; Dave and Jill Lee, 753 W. Third Ave.; Gilbert and Jenna Hall, 1121 W. Third Ave.; J. and Lucy Waterman, 1101 W. Third Ave.; and Jack and Glenda Logan, 1003 W. Festival of Lights: The annual Festival of Lights parade will be held at 6 p.m. in downtown Corsicana, followed by lighting of Community Park. Line up for the parade will begin at 5 p.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church parking lot, 801 N. 13th St., Corsicana. Jingle Bell Jog: The 17th annual Jingle Bell Jog, a 5K and 1 mile fun run, will be held at 9 a.m. at the Corsicana YMCA, 400 Oaklawn Drive, Corsicana. Early registration cost will be $8 for youth, $12 for adult, and $20 for family. Race day registration, which will begin at 8 a.m., will be $10 for youth, $15 for adult, and $25 for family. Magnolias and Mistletoe: The ninth annual Magnolias and Mistletoe Christmas celebration will be held in downtown Hubbard. A pancake breakfast will be held from 7 to 10 a.m. at the Hubbard Volunteer Fire Department. First Baptist Church’s God Kids will present a Christmas program at 10 a.m. at the fire station with pre-kindergarten through third grades presenting “Shepherds, Sheep and a Savior” and fourth through sixth grades presenting “It All Happened in the Country.” The Christmas parade will begin at 11 a.m. followed by the dedication of the Christmas tree at Hubbard City Hall with Christmas carols sung by the Community Men’s Choir. Lunch will be served at noon at the Hubbard VFD. Historic Hubbard High School will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with viewing, free to the public. Free horse-drawn wagon tours of the historic homes district will be available. First United Methodist Church Choir will present a Christmas cantata, “Jesus, There’s Something About That Name,” at 2 p.m. The church’s “Sweets and More Shop” will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in its fellowship hall. Hubbard Garden Club will host a tour of homes from 2 to 5 p.m. A meal and musical entertainment with Glorybound and Billy Roy Mitcham will be from 6 to 9 p.m. at Historic Hubbard High School. Navarro County Toy Run: Navarro County Toy Run will be held with local bikers leaving at 11 a.m. at the northwest area of College Park Mall, 3500 W. Seventh Ave., Corsicana. Riders will enjoy a scenic country ride that will end about noon at the VFW Post 3366, 4609 W. State Highway 31. Come for food, drinks and music provided by Steel Horse. Donations one new unwrapped toy or $10 per person. Toys will go to the Corsicana Fire Department to assist with its annual toy drive for The Salvation Army. Proceeds will help Navarro County charities and Food Pantry. Dance and auction will start will start at 8 p.m. at the VFW featuring the Wesley Pruitt Band. First United Methodist Church: First United Methodist Church, 320 N. 15th St., Corsicana will have its annual plum pudding festival along with a sandwich supper at 6 p.m. Santa Claus will also be making an appearance afterwards.

First United Methodist Church: First United Methodist Church of Dawson will have an advent service at 11 a.m.

Kerens Christmas Tea and Tour of Homes: Kerens Garden Club will host its annual Christmas Tea and Tour of Homes from 2 to 5 p.m. featuring the homes of Sharon and John Marrs, 1650 County Road NE2220; Wanda and Larry McBride, 523 N. Goodman; Jenny and Greg Allen, 300 S. Goodman; and Lindsay Conner, 801 S.W. Third St. The tea will be held at the Kerens Alumni Center on Colket Avenue in downtown Kerens. Westminster Presbyterian Church: The chancel choir of Westminster Presbyterian Church, 312 N. 13th St., Corsicana, will present a cantata, “O Antiphons,” at 11 a.m. “O Antiphons” refers to the seven recitations or chants sung during advent in many Christian traditions.

Immaculate Conception Catholic Church: The Anticipatory Mass for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception will be held at 5:30 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 3000 W. State Highway 22, Corsicana.



Dec. 8

Corsicana ISD Band: Corsicana Independent School District’s holiday band concert will be held at 7 p.m. at the Corsicana High School Auditorium.

First Baptist Church: The Special Ministries Department of First Baptist Church of Corsicana will sing at 5 p.m. at Heritage Oaks Retirement Village.

Immaculate Conception Catholic Church: Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 3000 W. State Highway 22, Corsicana, will have the Feast of the Immaculate Conception Mass in English at 8:15 a.m. The Feast of Immaculate Conception and Confirmation Mass (bilingual) will be at 7 p.m.

Navarro Elementary School: The fifth grade students of Navarro Elementary School, 601 S. 45th St., Corsicana, will present “We Are Lights,” with Christmas music and readings along with the fifth grade handbell choir at 7 p.m. in the cafetorium.



Dec. 9

Faith Lutheran Church: Faith Lutheran Church, 3824 W. State Highway 22, Corsicana, will hold advent services, “Mysteries of Faith,” at 7 p.m. A meal will be served at 5:30 p.m.



Dec. 10

Bowie Elementary School: Bowie Elementary School, 1800 Bowie Drive, Corsicana, will have a holiday open house from 6 to 7:30 p.m. There will be ornaments, crafts and snacks for sale at 25 cents to $1 each. Proceeds will go the Angel Tree.

Corsicana ISD Choral Department: Choirs from Drane Intermediate School, Collins Middle School and Corsicana High School will perform at 7 p.m. at the CHS Auditorium.

Rice ISD Band: Rice Independent School District’s bands will perform at Rice High School. The sixth grade band will perform at 6:30 p.m., with the seventh grade performing at 7 p.m., followed by the high school band at 7:30 p.m.

Chatfield United Methodist Church: Chatfield United Methodist Church, 4937 Farm-to-Market Road 1603, Chatfield, will have its annual family Christmas program from 3 to 5 p.m., which will include a puppet show, family activities, birthday party for Jesus with cake and punch, and Christmas carols sing-a-long. The event will be free, but please consider bringing a can, box or bag of food for local food pantries.

Westminster Presbyterian Church: Westminster Presbyterian Church, 312 N. 13th St., Corsicana, will have “The Longest Night Service” at 6 p.m. The service is designed to offer healing and support for those experiencing stress and loneliness at the holiday season.



Dec. 24

Cornerstone Baptist Church: Cornerstone Baptist Church, 801 N. 13th St., Corsicana, will have a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 6:30 p.m.

Faith Lutheran Church: Faith Lutheran Church, 3824 W. State Highway 22, Corsicana, will have a Christmas Eve service at 7 p.m.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3366, located at Veterans Drive off West State Highway 31, will have a New Year’s Eve dance with the Heart of Texas Road Gang Band from Waco.
