Navarro County Day is over, and two key themes for residents in attendance were talk of shuttering the Corsicana Residential Treatment Center (still affectionately referred to as the State Home), and how the economy is hurting community banks.
Community banks are not hurting, State Rep. Byron Cook said, but new FDIC proposals to take up the slack from bigger banks could be detrimental. K.C. Wyatt and Les Leskoven from Community National, and Terry Fauble from Citizens National were on the trip and Raymond Linex II spoke to all three.
The State Home is on the radar for closing. Ten-year volunteer Roy Frink, also on the trip, asked Cook what residents needed to do to keep it open. He led the Corsicana contingent to a representative's office that has a say in youth corrections. He spoke to Linex about an issue close to his heart.
