Families express gratitude
To the Editor: It is with the utmost respect and gratitude that we write this letter to thank all of the people that helped our families recover the bodies of our loved ones, Jerry King and Jerrod Rachel, from Richland-Chambers Reservoir.
Never in our lives have we been a part of such an outpouring of love, support, and concern as what we have experienced in the last two weeks at the lake. We would like to personally thank the following organizations: Oak Cove Marina, Corsicana chapter of American Red Cross, The Salvation Army, Department of Public Safety Dive Team, United Response Search and Rescue of Midlothian, Richland-Chambers Fire/Rescue, dog search teams: US HERO Unit 17 of Dallas and Cen-Tex Search and Rescue of Bryan, Tarrant County Regional Water District Police, Navarro and Henderson County Sheriff’s Departments, Cross Roads community and students and families of Cross Roads ISD, Victim Relief chaplains and Brother Frank Upchurch, Rev. Joe Warren and the many other local pastors that came to comfort us, fellow-fishermen and the First United Methodist Church of Athens. But the most important thank you goes out to the game wardens directed by Captain Gary Dugan of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Many of us grew up hunters and fishermen and honestly tried to avoid the game warden every chance we got. These guys were there sun up to after sun down every day. They cared about what had happened to our loved ones and even shared some tears with us. We have never seen a group of guys work as hard to help people they didn’t even know. Special thanks to wardens Thorne and Hernandez for their presence and escort at Jerrod’s funeral. This was as an honor to the family. This family’s attitude towards game wardens has been changed. If you see one of these guys please shake their hand and tell them you appreciate what they do.

About Obama
To the Editor: Throughout the presidential campaign, Obama wanted “change” and “hope” without explaining how. Now we know why, and why the liberal media kept his history hidden. To the world, he has apologized for America, bowed to Saudi Arabia’s king, and said we are not a Christian nor a Muslim nation but a nation of citizens, as if our Judeo-Christian heritage was shameful and Islam will be just as acceptable.
In his book, “Dreams From My Father,” Barack (means “the chosen one”) mentions Bill Clinton’s Third Way. (p. ix, Preface) Rather than capitalism vs. communism, it embraces a mix between the free-market and intervention into private business, designed to protect the modern welfare state from cycles.
He says our problems are between the “haves vs. the have nots,” and conflict between those who embrace diversity vs. those who use flags, slogans and sacred texts to justify their cruelty toward each other. (See p. x-ix, Preface) He blames British white imperialists, their racial discrimination, and their use of guns for the poverty in Africa and his own father’s failures. (Chapter 19 and Epilogue)
He cried in Rev. Wright’s church as he realized the folks thanking Jesus for their troubles were talking about their vertical relationship to God, but he says he did not understand, at first, they were thanking God for all they dared to hope for in him (Obama). (Chapter 14, p. 295, read it, messiah complex?)
He has Muslims (OIC) in Hillary’s office at the State Department, and for her legal advice has hired Harold Koh, a transnationalist, who believes the Constitution should be interpreted according to other nations’ legal “norms.” (New York Post, March 30, 2009) When Barack was organizing, he said pastors were uncertain why this Muslim, or worse, Irishman, O’Bama, was contacting them. (Chapter 14, p. 279) Now we all know. His hunger for leftist power is insatiable, and our economy, Christianity, and blood-bought freedoms are in jeopardy. Appreciates attendance
To the Editor: I would like to thank all the pastors, churches, friends, family and the whole community for supporting me during my 10th appreciation services. My prayer to God for each of you is that He will continue to bless you as we all strive to do God’s will. Thank you again, and remember “I Believe God.”
Your brother in Christ,
Bishop K.D. Davis Sr.
No fee for me
To the Editor: I have no desire to pay a “small” fee each month so other folks’ leaves can be picked up. I mulch my leaves and if other jokers want to bag, let them pay. I understand why the city wants to do it this way. It’s easier to bill everyone and will bring in more revenue. Just like the brush pickup which I have never used.
Another problem that needs to addressed by the city and/or school is the traffic problem in front of Collins School in the afternoon. Dobbins is blocked both ways without any regard for other traffic. Emergency vehicles would be in trouble and patients could die. School police should be used to keep traffic moving and maybe staggering dismissal times would help. West Beverly Drive by Bowie School is also a problem. Parents park on both sides of the street reducing it to a one way street. There should be no-parking on one side of West Beverly.

Loud booming music and trash are problems
To the Editor: I wish I could go to the car wash or pull up to a red light and go to bed at night without having to hear the windows rattling in my house when they drive by with the bass turned up so loud the whole car vibrates. This is very annoying to me and surely others as well. Someone drives up and down Dobbins at night playing this cr-- when most people are trying to get some rest. They are disturbing the peace of people living in their homes. I hope some of you will respond to this or call me. We can go to the city and see, no we will do what needs to be done. The city needs to put some heavy fines on some of them and it will stop as well as people that throw their trash out also. They should fine Wal-Mart for each bag picked up in front of their lot. It looks like a dump to drive into this city. The trash trucks leave a trail all the way down Highway 31 and the ones in town won’t take a second to pick up what they spill. I could go on but nobody cares enough to do anything. Thanks anyway.
