Gratitude for coverage
To the Editor: The members of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows would like to thank Janet Jacobs for the wonderful article she wrote about our proposed building project for a new Grand Lodge office and convention center. We also enjoyed the article she wrote after interviewing Mr. Ned Johnson, a former resident of the Children’s Home.
The officers and members of the I.O.O.F. are excited about our plans and feel the convention center will be a great asset to our organization and to the city of Corsicana and surrounding areas. We have been overwhelmed by the support received from local civic leaders and the community as a whole. We are grateful to everyone for their support and enthusiasm and look forward to revealing more of our plans in the coming months.
Sincerely,
James Curtis
I.O.O.F. grand secretary
... and for support
To the Editor: I would like to take a moment to reflect on my campaign and to thank everyone that supported me. I can honestly say that except for the final results, I could not have asked for a more wonderful time. It was one of the most exciting experiences of my life and I can say with the utmost honesty, that knowing what I know today, I still would have run.
I am honored that I received 44 percent of the vote and my only regret is that I had to eat a little crow with my cake Saturday night.
My thanks to my husband Randy for his support. The hours spent putting up signs, putting up with my schedule and then helping me stay caught up at Sign Pro’s. My beautiful girls for their encouragement and praise and how proud they are of me. My mom for helping at Sign Pro’s and all the calling she did! My precious grandbaby, Gracie, who said “Vote for my Nona” every time we passed one of my signs. And in all honesty, we know how many signs we passed!
The ladies of the American Business Women’s Association, who started out three years ago as my colleagues and ended up as my best friends. My supporters from the Navarro County Youth Exposition and supporters from Leadership Corsicana. All my friends from my past that came out and worked so diligently spreading the word and offering much support. The friends that I made along the way that I can now carry into the future with me. This was a true blessing and I don’t have any regrets.
My congratulations to George Walker. I wish you well and I will offer my support to you in your endeavors over the next two years. I am optimistic that you will take a renewed insight with you from our campaign.
God bless.
Sincerely,
Dana Collins
