Appreciates series

To The Editor: We want to applaud you for your upcoming “Invested and Committed to our Community” series. We live in such a great community and what a wonderful avenue for us to share it with others.

Every community has people with different views and opinions. But the key to success is to agree to disagree, whether it’s water rates, power plants, or trash pickup days. When we come together in a positive way with the growth and betterment of our community at heart we cannot help but win.

We do tours of the community for prospective employees coming to Navarro County. We sell this community as a great place to live, raise your children, and enjoy a peaceful lifestyle.

Thanks for giving us a avenue to share what a great place we live in. Keep up the good work.

Golden opportunity

To the Editor: The voters, taxpayers and citizens have three chances to be heard in September concerning the 2009-2010 city budget. On Sept. 1, 8 and 15, the Corsicana City Council will meet to decide the final budget. They will vote to approve that budget on Sept. 22. If you support a larger costly government, please be there. If you have having problems balancing your own home budget, please be there! Some of us are taking heavy abuse in your defense. Where are you and when will you find your own voice?

You voted for them and they need to hear from you. Unless you come and be “pro-active” during the budget talks, you are giving your Corsicana government the power to decide the future of your children and grandchildren.

I have put myself on the front line for you!

I’m now asking for your help! If you don’t support my effort to take our government back under control and cut their spending, please be there Sept. 1. If you support my effort to stop a government who ignores what the taxpayer can pay for, please be there.

We have been forced into an era where you must get out of your La-Z-Boy. Sept. 1, 8 and 15 are important days.

If you choose not to make yourselves heard, just how much are you willing to pay for your silence?

Vicky Prater
