Appreciates assistance
To the Editor: Words are inadequate to express the gratitude we feel for all the support given to us when our historic oak fell across the street.
The fire department were first responders and then the police arrived to direct traffic, Oncor to restore power safely, Northland Cable to reconnect cable, and the two men from Public Works diligently cleared the street. The entire event was handled safely and efficiently. Lone Star Tree Service is working hard to clear the remaining limbs and stump.
We are also grateful to God for allowing the tree to fall AWAY from our house. The only real damage was to our wrought iron fence, and that can be replaced. Things could have been so very different, but God is good.
Third Avenue will not be the same without the old giant, but we are so grateful to live in a town where people are willing to work together to provide the best for everyone. Again our thanks to all who helped us.

To the Editor: This letter is a thank you to a group of Richland-Chambers Lake ladies who are absolute angels.
My twin sister, Edwina White, was honored at her home with a fabulous surprise birthday luncheon. A huge cake with our picture on it and a picture of her book “Twin Tracks” was an enormous hit.
Thomas White and I just want these wonderful friends to know how very much we appreciate their love, caring and concern.
Corsicana is indeed a fortunate city to have the lake and the wonderful people who live there.

To the Editor: I would like to take a few moments to say “thank you” to our Corsicana Police Department. I live in Powell so I travel on East Highway 31 daily. I have recently noticed on several occasions that there will be a police car with lights flashing and a vehicle pulled over on the shoulder of the road late at night. You think “Ha, ha, someone’s getting a ticket,” but as you approach the scene you see the officer standing behind the vehicle holding a light for some young boys to change the flat tire on their vehicle. Another time there was an officer actually changing the tire for an elderly lady. You know it is good to see that there are officers out there who still really care about their jobs and the people they serve and protect as well. Again I would just like to say thank you to the officers; you gentlemen and ladies have a hard job to do and do not get the proper thanks for what you do so, thank you to all the Corsicana Police Department.
