Corsicana — Curtis W. Sparks Sr. Afro-American Scholarship Award

The Curtis W. Sparks Sr. Afro-American Scholarship Award sponsored by the G. W. Carver High  School Alumni, Dawson, was awarded to Brittany Michelle Coleman and Jasmine Jack.

Brittany Michelle Coleman is the daughter of Belinda Coleman and the granddaughter of the late Leon A. and Jessie Thomas. Leon A. Thomas taught many years at G.W. Carver High School and Dawson School. Brittany is the 2012 class valedictorian of Dawson High School. She will attend Stephen F. Austin State University.

Jasmine Jack is an undergraduate student of Baylor University. She has completed examinations and application for both medical and post graduate school for 2012 entry. She will receive her bachelors degree of education in Community Health in 2013. She is the daughter of Robert and Camilla Jack of Bedford. She is the granddaughter of Robert and Georgia Lemon of Corsicana (Georgia is a 1964 graduate of G.W. Carver High School, Dawson).
