Mildred High School cheer team earns trophies at cheer camp
The Mildred High School cheer team attended UCA Cheer Camp at Great Wolf Lodge June 18-21. Two cheerleaders, Alexa Supak and Callie Bland, were named All American. Julianna Perry received the Pin It Forward award. The squad had a great time learning new cheers, stunts, dances and playing in the waterpark. The squad received one red ribbon and three blue superior ribbons throughout the week and won an Improvement trophy at the end of the week. They won a spirit stick every night and got to take one home. Mascot Molly Gaines received her own spirit stick, the Improvement Trophy, superior ribbons, an excellent ribbon, a gold ribbon for her Field Walk and was a finalist in the Jump Off. Coaches Jamie Kitchens and Haven Powers also received certificates for completing their coaching classes.

Corsicana native receives Naval promotion
STSCM(SS) Xavier James Harris (STSCM stands for Sonar Technician Submarines Master Chief; the (SS) stands for Submarine Warfare Qualified) was promoted to Master Chief Petty Officer May 31, 2012 by Rear Admiral Richard Breckenridge. Harris is stationed at Commander Submarine Group Two in Groton, Connecticut as the Division Officer of Intelligence Department. Harris celebrates his 17th anniversary in the Navy July 30, 2012. He is an Acoustic Intelligence Specialist or ACINT Specialist for short. The Acoustic Intelligence (ACINT) program is a special operations program that has been around since 1962 and was born out of the Cold War for Submarine Warfare. Since its inception, there have only been 235 sailors to complete the two years of training to be certified as an Acoustic Intelligence Specialist. Harris is number 215 of that elite group. Harris is married to Shameqa Harris of Corsicana and the couple has two children, Ashley and Tristan. Ashley is currently a candidate for the U. S. Naval Academy Class of 2017.
Horton graduates
Emily Horton graduated from O’Fallon Township High School May 19, 2012 and will be attending the University of Minnesota in the fall. She graduated Summa Cum Laude and was admitted in to the University Honors Program along with receiving several scholarships and awards. Emily graduated with a grade point average of 3.97. Emily is the daughter of Donna Horton of O’Fallon, Ill. and Bill Horton Jr. of Savannah, Texas. Her proud grandparents are Bill and Gayle Horton of Oak Valley, Texas.

Navarro County Treasurer Frank Hull was notified of his nomination for Outstanding County Treasurer by the County Treasurer's Association of Texas (CTAT) Chairman of the Nomination Committee, Donna Kelly, Erath County Treasurer. The winner is determined by a vote of the 250 membership in May. Only five are nominated each year.

Another Daviss adventure is under our belts. Our travel and airport experience went fairly smoothly considering we were travelling with three boys, four suitcases, a stroller and two car seats. But we did make it through everything unscathed, and returned safely.
