Bower named CHS principal

Greg Bower was named principal of Corsicana High School Monday by the Corsicana Independent School District Board of Trustees.

Bower was named interim principal in May when the district announced the reassignment of Dr. Keith Moore to the central administration office. His appointment to the job in a permanent capacity was approved as part of a number of personnel moves given the OK by the board Monday.

Bower is excited about the move and is already preparing for the coming school year, set to begin with classes on Aug. 24.

“I’m excited about the position and the opportunity,” Bower said following the meeting. “I’m ready to follow some of the changes that Dr. Moore has put in place, and ready to put some of my own little touches on it.

“We’ve got some good kids to work with, and work for, and I’m ready for that.”

Bower joined the CISD in 2006 as an assistant principal, and was promoted to associate principal in 2008.

The board also approved the reassignments of Flor Almazon, Walter Berringer and Robert Bray to join Bower’s team of administrators at the high school. Almazon and Bray will serve as assistant principals; Berringer was named an associate principal at the high school.

“Mr. Berringer, I’ve worked closely with him the last couple of years,” Bower said. “Flor Almazon will be coming on as an assistant. She’s been a Spanish teacher in the past. Coach Robert Bray has been a biology teacher and coach ... I know they’ll all do a great job.”

Other reassignments approved Monday by the school board include:

Misty Fletes, Bowie third grade teacher, moving to CHS English teacher.

Bobby August will be moving from Collins Middle School to CHS as a science teacher; he’ll continue to work as assistant golf coach and stadium manager.
