A benefit for Kevin Wear, the Rice man who was seriously injured by an IED in Afghanistan, has been scheduled for Sept. 30 at the I.O.O.F. Event Center in Corsicana.
A planning meeting was held Wednesday to go over plans for the event, in hopes of raising funds to assist Wear and his family of five children as he remains hospitalized in San Antonio.
The Sept. 30 event will begin at 1 p.m. with a BBQ lunch and bake sale. There will be live band entertainment during the BBQ meal. Ticket prices for the event: couples enter at a price for the whole event day for $25, singles get in for $15; kids under 5 years eat free; kids 6 to 11 eat for $5.; and if your child is 12 to 16 the cost is $10.
At 3 p.m. there will be a short cleanup period while the committee gets ready for a live auction. Bottled water will remain available to the public, and those attending can bring in coolers of your choice of beverages for a cooler charge of $10 per cooler.
There will be security on sight all day for the event, with more live entertainment scheduled throughout the afternoon and evening.
The public is invited to join in helping the committee with the event.
