The Navarro County Grand Jury returned 45 indictments Thursday, of which 43 were new charges, according to Navarro County District Attorney Lowell Thompson.
Among the people indicted was Daldrich O. Costello, charged with escape and evading with a vehicle when the trustee allegedly trotted away from the Navarro County Jail while taking out the trash on July 23; and Monty D. Worthington, who allegedly packed a grocery cart full of meat and tried to push it out the back door of the HEB grocery store before an employee intervened. Worthington allegedly pushed the employee, turning a shoplifting case into a robbery.
Martin J. Marbaugh was charged with felony illegal dumping for using a leased pasture as a dumping ground for tires that he was supposed to be disposing of in an environmentally friendly way.
An indictment is not a finding of guilt or innocence, but is merely the panel’s decision that enough evidence exists to take a case to trial. According to Thompson, the following individuals were also indicted Thursday on these charges:
Stephen A. Akin, theft;
Robert L. Anderson, burglary of a habitation;
Gabriella F. Andreottola, possession of a category 1 controlled substance less than one gram in a drug-free zone;
Darel R. Belz, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle;
Joshua P. Black, possession of a category 1 controlled substance less than one gram in a drug-free zone, and possession of a category 1 controlled substance less than one gram, and evading arrest with a vehicle;
Fabian C. Ayala, possession of a category 3 controlled substance less than 28 grams in a drug-free zone;
Yesenia Ayala, possession of a category 3 controlled substance less than 28 grams in a drug-free zone; and possession of a category 1 controlled substance less than one gram in a drug-free zone;
Richard C. Bacon Jr., theft from a person;
Natilio V. Barron, continuous violence against family;
Latoya R. Bernard, possession of a category 3 controlled substance greater than 28 grams and less than 200 grams in a drug-free zone; and possession of a category 3 controlled substance greater than 400 grams in a drug-free zone;
Eldridge D. Betts, possession of a category 1 controlled substance greater than four grams and less than 200 grams with intent to deliver;
Stephanie M. Brown, aggravated assault;
Brian Chaney, indecency with a child;
Jay Yoon Chung, possession of a category 1 controlled substance less than one gram;
Dontrell S. Coleman, burglary of a habitation;
Daldridch O. Costello, escape and evading with a vehicle;
Hannah A. Dungo, fraudulent use of or possession of identification;
Steve M. Elder, possession of a category one controlled substance less than one gram;
John K. Forbes, possession of a category one controlled substance less than one gram;
Daniel J. Frederick, theft by check;
Ismael Garza Jr., assault of a family victim, airway blocked;
Michael C. Grantham, burglary of a habitation;
Brandon D. Jones, unlawful possession of a firearm by felon;
Timothy S. Jones, driving while intoxicated, third offense or more;
Vu Quang Le, burglary of a building;
Jerry W. Lisenbe, organized crime;
Michael B. Williams, organized crime;
Thomas C. Lusk, evading arrest or detention;
Martin J. Marbaugh, illegal dumping;
Grover C. Melvin Jr., fraudulent use of or possession of identification;
Joseph R. Montgomery, theft;
Richard T. Phillips, possession of a category 1 controlled substance less than one gram;
Johnny R. Rodriguez, possession of a category 1 controlled substance less than one gram;
Froylan Salazar, driving while intoxicated, third offense or more;
Donald W. Stephens, driving while intoxicated third offense or more;
Joseph R. Thomas, theft;
Gegoire L. Urrutia, possession of marijuana greater than four ounces and less than five pounds;
Monty D. Worthington, robbery.

MOORE, Okla. — Search and rescue crews worked through the night after a monstrous tornado barreled through the Oklahoma City suburbs, demolishing an elementary school and reducing homes to piles of splintered wood. Over 50 killed in OKC suburb tornado
MOORE, Okla. — A monstrous tornado at least a half-mile wide roared through the Oklahoma City suburbs Monday, flattening entire neighborhoods and destroying an elementary school with a direct blow as children and teachers huddled against winds up to 200 mph. At least 51 people were killed, and officials said the death toll was expected to rise.

CISD Trustees table architect proposal, hear bond feedback
An outpouring of support from CISD teachers, and some advice for the next bond proposal from a local voter took up the public forum portion of Monday’s Corsicana Independent School District Board of Trustees meeting.
District voters turned down a proposed $54 million bond package in the May 11 school and municipal elections. The bond would have paid for a new campus, security and building upgrades, new technology, baseball field improvements, and a new school administration building. -
Navarro County Relay for Life raises funds and awareness
Once again, teams from all over Navarro County gathered Friday evening at The Cook Center parking lot after months of fundraising events to see the culmination of their efforts toward cancer research.
The goal?
To raise enough money one day for research that a cure is found to end cancer. -
Citizen’s Police Academy on target for graduation
Last week, the 18 members of the Citizens Police Academy came together to shoot guns.
In a long caravan, they headed out to the police shooting range near the landfill where they were taught about the department’s rifles, pepper guns, and handguns. They were invited to fire the pepper gun, although it only contained harmless powder pellets on that day, and a handgun, both under the watchful eyes of instructors Officer Sean Eggleston and Asst. Chief Ronnie McGaha. -
‘Make-A-Wish’ event raises funds for trip
Thursday’s Make-A-Wish Foundation event at La Pradera raised enough money to send Coy Bostian and his family to Disney World, according to Heba Shafik, wish-granter with the local chapter.
