As Jan. 1, 2013 draws near, plans have been made for official swearing in ceremonies for newly elected county officials.
Three different ceremonies are planned, including a midnight Monday ceremony for the newly elected sheriff and re-elected district judge.
Justice of the Peace Connie Hickman will pull late night duty on Dec. 31, when she will swear in Elmer Tanner as Navarro County Sheriff, and James Lagomarsino, re-elected as 13th District Judge. The ceremony will take place just after midnight Monday night in the Justice of the Peace Courtroom in the Navarro County Justice Center.
The late-night ceremony was scheduled to make certain both the Sheriff’s Department and the District Court have uninterrupted leadership during the transition between terms.
On Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, Tanner will conduct a swearing in ceremony for deputies of the Navarro County Sheriff’s Department. The deputies will be sworn in at 8 a.m. Tuesday in the County Courtroom of the Navarro County Courthouse.
Then on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, a formal swearing in for all newly-elected officials will be held at 8 a.m. in the District Courtroom of the Navarro County Courthouse, conducted by 10th Court of Appeals Chief Justice Tom Gray.
In addition to Tanner and Lagomarsino, officials that were elected or re-elected in the 2012 elections and slated to take part in the Wednesday ceremony include District Clerk Josh Tackett, County Court-At-Law Judge Amanda Putman, County Tax Assessor/Collector Russell Hudson, Precinct 1 County Commissioner Jason Grant, Precinct 3 County Commissioner David “Butch” Warren, and all four constables; Mike Davis of Precinct 1, David Foreman of Precinct 2, Nicole McMahan of Precinct 3, and Tommy Grant of Precinct 4.
