Corsicana —
Tickets go on sale today for “The Best of Broadway” a review of Broadway’s biggest musical hits from the last half century which will be touring through the city with one show at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 25 at the Palace Theatre.
This show marks the beginning of the 2012 season and the Palace’s 11th season of presenting the professional performing arts since its glorious restoration and re-opening in February 2002.
This show features Raymond Saar, Diane Ketchie, Valerie Perri, and Scott Harlan, professional performers with experience in national and international touring productions.
The Best of Broadway will take you on a walk down Broadway from blockbuster hit shows to sizzling revivals to the hottest new tickets in town. This show is a roller coaster ride from one show-stopper to the next as “The Best of Broadway” presents music from “Les Miserables,” “The Producers,” “Spamalot,” “Chicago,” “Ragtime,” “Man of La Mancha,” “Fiddler On The Roof,” “Funny Girl” and “Phantom of The Opera,” to name a few.
Join Broadway stars as they salute the legends of Broadway from Al Jolson and Julie Andrews to Zero Mostel and Barbra Streisand by sharing some of their signature songs. This evening is designed to recreate the magic of classic Broadway as well as give a sneak peak at the latest new Tony winners. The musical selections included in this program have been composed by such Broadway luminaries as Andrew Lloyd Webber, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Kander and Ebb and Jerry Herman.
Experience comedy, passion, romance, and perhaps even shed a tear as you are taken on a highly charged emotional ride through Broadway's greatest moments. This show will take you on a musical journey featuring some of the most glorious music ever written.

Former players reunite to pay tribute to Woodcock

On Saturday, a large group of women gathered at the IOOF Special Event Center, and they ranged in age from late 20s to mid-40s. Their common denominator?
All had played softball under the coaching and tutelage of Don Woodcock at a point in their lives. -
Early voting enters second week
As of Monday afternoon, 1,452 people had cast ballots in the county, state and national primary elections going on now in the basement of the Navarro County Courthouse, according to Elections Administrator Danda Parker.
Early voting hours are 8 to 5 p.m. for the rest of the week, ending at 5 p.m. Friday. Election day is May 29. -

Organizers of the Corsicana/Navarro County Clean Up Day scheduled for June 2 have advised the Daily Sun of new hours for the event.
The countywide Clean Up Day is being held from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. that day, not until 2 p.m. as previously announced.
