CORSICANA - The Palace Theatre is proud to announce its 2012 season featuring some huge professional acts. The Palace Theatre prides itself on presenting a diverse season of performing arts for this community. With the season, patrons will get “a little bit” of everything from pop to country, to Broadway shows to classical.

The Palace will present a full seven show season this spring as to adjust their schedule to fit with other Performing Arts Centers’ September through May schedules. The new schedule will help bring bigger named artists to Corsicana and Navarro County, while keeping your ticket costs low.

The 2012 season will kick-off on Saturday, Feb. 25 with The Best of Broadway Tour featuring the works of Andrew Lloyd Webber. This concert features some of the most glorious music even written and performed by some of Broadway’s biggest stars. These stars have performed everywhere from Carnegie Hall to the White House and have starred in shows such as Les Miserables, Wicked, Evita and Phantom of the Opera.

Next on the stage is a trio of country legends, and this concert might be our biggest on the Palace stage. The Roots and Boots Tour features the country giants Aaron Tippin, Joe Diffie and Sammy Kershaw. This show will be a concert to remember with all three on stage together singing their greatest hits that include “She Don’t Know She’s Beautiful”, and more. This show is one night only, Friday, March 30, at 7:30 p.m. and promises to be an exciting night in Palace history.

In April, the Palace will host the hottest Eagle’s Tribute Band in the country, 7 Bridges. The group has been touring the country to sold out crowds and will close Corsicana’s annual Derrick Days festival on Saturday, April 28 at 7:30 p.m. This group just happens to feature Corsicana native Jason Manning and his return on the Palace stage.

The month of May will be busy with two events. First, the Palace will present the Country Comedy Tour on Friday, May 18. A recent survey requested comedy and this family friendly show will bring the laughs. This show features Mg Gaskin and Matt Mitchell, aka “Casio Kid” and both have numerous television credits including The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, CMT’s Comedy Stage, MTV, Fox and more.

On Thursday, May 24, the Palace will welcome Plastic Musik, a unique group that is touring the globe with their mix of music hits played only with instruments made of plastic. They utilize traditional percussion techniques, along with all-plastic instruments to produce familiar melodies. The combination of a revolutionary product known as “boomwhackers,” an energetic stage show, and surprising musicality provides an entertaining experience for musicians and non-musicians alike. Audience members will be treated to familiar themes ranging from classical favorites, to Motown classics, Hip-Hop hits, 80’s movie themes, and original pieces.

Also, included in this year’s season is two movies. The baseball favorites Field Of Dreams will be shown on the big screen Friday, Jan. 27, and The Sandlot on Friday, March 9.

In addition to the Performance Series, the Palace is offering a Family Show on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. The Nationally known group Biscuit Brothers will be presenting their Biscuit Brothers Live! show which resembles their KERA weekly show.

These shows are graciously underwritten by the J. Tom Eady Charitable Trust, the Annie Lee Robbins Charitable Trust, EM Sheppard Foundation, Community National Bank and Trust, Guardian Industries Corp, and Brad, Lori and Carly Haynie.

The only way to guarantee seats to these events is with a Palace Season Subscription. Season tickets are on sale now and ticket prices range from as low as $97 to $184 for all five shows and two movies.

For more information on this season and how to purchase tickets to these events, call the Palace Theatre at (903) 874-7792; visit their website at www.corsicanapalace.com, or come by the Palace office at 110 West Sixth Avenue in Corsicana.
