Aug. 25
The Susan G. Komen 3-Day Team from Corsicana Bedding Inc. will hold a Fish Fry at the Chatfield Community Center from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. All are welcome to participate in this worthy cause and eat some great fish!
Gospel Jubilee will be held at Martins Music Hall, 102 S. Beaton. Doors will open at 6 p.m., with show starting at 7 p.m. Featured artists will be Grace Community Praise Team, Billy Elias, Carolyn Cobb, and Heavenly Highways Band (which consists of Elias Lowe, Gary Poe and Ricky Woodall). Admission is $10 per person.
The VFW Post 3366 is hosting a dance in the ballroom. Heart of Texas Road Gang will play from 8 p.m. to 12 midnight. There will be no cover charge but donations will be accepted to help pay the cost of the band. Come out and bring your friends! Good country music for your listening or dancing pleasure!

The Silver Dems, a newly organized group will meet at 5 p.m. at the Navarro Democratic Party Headquarters at 416A W. Third St. (one block West of Courthouse). We will be socializing and munching from plates that you bring so be generous with the fried chicken or sweet treats and wear your best smile. We will be electing officers and committies so your leadership skills will be needed. The group’s main purpose is to discuss issues important to folks over 50 years young and educate ourselves on benefits from the government and civilian organizations that are available to senior citizens and veterans.

Pearce Civil War and Western Art Museum at Navarro College will hold a volunteer meeting at 10 a.m. for anyone interested in reading Civil War letters to search for key terms. This indexing project may be done at home. Also, the meeting is for anyone interested in volunteering to give tours of students and adults. Texas Historical Commission’s Main Street Design Center and Leslie Wolfenden will present “Show It! Sell It! Modern Visual Merchandising in an Historic Environment,” at the Corsicana Public Library. Topics covered will include displays, signage, lighting, props and mannequins, backdrops, creativity and spatial experience. A free continental breakfast begins at 8:45 a.m. with the program following at 9 a.m. Reservations are required, by calling (903) 654-4852. Presented by Corsicana Main Street, the Small Business Development Center at Navarro College and the Corsicana Economic Development department.

These classese will be held on the second Tuesday of each month from 5 to 7 p.m. The Diabetes Self-Management Comprehensive Program is an ongoing class for patients diagnosed with diabetes. Oak Valley Crime Watch will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Oak Valley Community Center. Bring a covered dish. Everyone is welcome.
The Southern Pacific Sunbeam Club will meet in celebration of Labor Day at the Ennis I-HOP. The whistle will blow at 11:30 a.m. Active and retired railroaders, their families, friends, and those who love a train are welcomed to share in fellowship with this group.

The Blooming Grove Crime Watch will meet at the Blooming Grove Fire Station at 7 p.m. Precinct 4 commissioner James Olsen will be the speaker. Light refreshments will be served and everyone is welcome.
Eureka Crime Watch wil hold its regular monthly meeting at 1:30 p.m. at the Eureka United Methodist Church. Special guests will be Ken and Linda Williams, volunteers with the KAIROS prison ministry. Join your friends and neighbors for this informative meeting and enjoy the fellowship that follows. Refreshments will be served.

The Susan G. Komen 3-Day Team from Corsicana Bedding Inc. will hold a benefit concert at The Remington featuring the Sloane McCain Band from 8 p.m. to 12 midnight. Tickets are $10 at the door, and there will also be a silent auction. All funds raised will go toward the team’s fundraising efforts.
2012 Never Forget Memorial Celebration will be held at the American Legion Post #22, 632 N. Beaton, Corsicana. Events will begin at 11 a.m. Texas Senator Brian Birdwell is the keynote speaker. The Navarro County Sheriff’s Office Honor and Color Guard will perform, there will be a Casi Chili Cookoff, silent auction, $300 Gander Mountain Raffle, vendor spaces, face painting and the public is welcome. Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1009 will meet at 7 p.m. at the Sirloin Stockade, 2508 W. Seventh Ave, Corsicana. Membership is open to U.S. armed forces veterans who served on active duty (for other than training purposes) in the Republic of Vietnam between Feb. 28,1961 and May 7,1975, or in ANY duty location between Aug. 5, 1964 and May 7,1975. The veteran must submit a copy of his/her DD Form 214 along with the application and dues. Members and guest are invited to come early and eat and visit prior to the meeting.
The Corsicana Emergency Corps., located at 416 South 12th Street in Corsicana, will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting at 7 p.m. The general public is invited to attend. Sept. 13
The Young at Heart Club will resume meeting after its summer break from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Blooming Grove Museum on Fordyce St. This is for anyone 55 and up. Come and enjoy fellowship, fun and friends. Refreshments will be served. The Young at Heart Club meets on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month, at the museum.
VOICE will have a Corsicana/Navarro County Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours at 5:32 to 7:02 p.m. The new VOICE logo will be unveiled and there will be time for food, fellowship, and door prizes. The Business After Hours will be at the VOICE Office at the Bank of America Building, 100 N Main St Suite 308 in Corsicana. September 13 will also be a great time to donate to VOICE through Donor Bridge, every donation of $25 or above made 7 a.m. to Midnight will be matched by a percentage to be determined by the amount of donations received. The Corsicana High School Junior Class will hold “Around the World in 80 Bites” fundraiser for the Prom from 5 to 6:30 p.m. prior to the game against Forney. It will be held in the CHS Commons. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased from any CHS Junior or from Misty Fletes, Junior Class sponsor.

This is a free riding program for medically challenged, disabled and special needs children 0-21 and their immediate siblings. Lunch is included.
