Corsicana —
Editor’s note: The following series is shared in the spirit of fun and celebration of the upcoming birthday celebration of the Palace Theatre. Events depicted aren’t real, but in the spirit of helping promote the Palace event in a fun and memorable way.
Local hooligans from the 1920’s and 30’s era have threatened to disrupt the Palace Theatre’s birthday fundraiser scheduled for Nov. 17. This event features the nationally acclaimed swing band Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and the theme will be Speakeasys and Mobsters. An anonymous tipster has forwarded A photo of the as yet unidentified gang. More information as it becomes available.
The Corsicana Daily Sun joins the board and executive director of the Palace Theatre as anticipation builds toward the 90th Birthday celebration of the renovated theater. Over the next few weeks prior to the Nov. 17 event, teaser stories will run each Sunday regarding our local “gangsters” and “mob,” as they threaten to disrupt the schedule of celebratory events.
The festivities are scheduled to kick off with cocktails at 5:30 p.m. at the Speakeasy, 111 E. Collin St., followed by a dinner at 6 p.m. At 7:30, the party moves down to The Palace Theatre, where champagne, cake, and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy will be in concert. For more information, or reservations, call the Palace at (903) 874-7792.
