The Easter Bunny will make a special guest appearance from 9 a.m. to noon at Community National Bank, 321 N. 15th St., Corsicana. The bunny will pose for pictures, and baked goods will also be on sale. Photos with the bunny are $1. All proceeds from the photos and the bake sale will go to the Navarro County Relay for Life, which raises money for cancer research and patient needs.

City of Rice will have “Easter Day in the Park” from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Carnival games will be set up, and six children’s bikes will be given away through coupons hidden into six special eggs. American Legion Post 22 Ladies Auxiliary, located at 632 N. Beaton St., Corsicana, invites all children, ages 1 to 10-years-old, to attend their annual Easter egg hunt. Swing for the Cure Golf Tournament, to benefit the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, is having a “Four-Man Scramble.” The cost is $62.50 per person or $250 per team. There will be individual and team awards given away for first, second, and third place. They will note “Closest to the Pin,” “Hole in One,” and “Longest Drive Contest” after the tournament. There will be food and drinks for sale at the course. All proceeds go to Relay for Life (Navarro County). Texas Smokin’ Gun’s Club will be having a “Cowboy Mounted Shooting Demonstration” beginning at 5 p.m. at Lone Star Cowboy Church arena, 4495 W. Hwy. 22, Corsicana. The event is for those who like horses, guns, and fair competition for all ages and genders. Dawson Lions Club will hold a supper and auction fundraiser at 5:30 p.m. in the Dawson High School Cafeteria. The club invites everyone in the area to attend — charitable donations will be, for the most part, spent in the City of Dawson. The menu will include baked ham, baked beans, potato salad, peach cobbler, iced tea, and coffee, with all the trimmings. Donations will be accepted for the meal. The auction will follow the meal. Come ready to be tempted by the homemade pies and cakes as well as items donated by area merchants and craftsmen. Proceeds from the meal and auction will got to support Texas Lions Camp for physically challenged children, Lone Star Eye Bank, scholarships and eye exams, glasses for Dawson ISD students, mental health, and other local school and community projects.
Hubbard Lions Club is hosting their Third Annual Fish Fry from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Hubbard Volunteer Fire Dept. Adult plates will be $8, and plates will be $3 for children 10-years-old and younger — this includes all the fixings. To go plates will be available. The club only hosts two fundraisers each year, one in the spring and the other in the fall, with a chili supper on Hubbard's homecoming night. Early voting will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays Monday thru Friday May 14 through May 18, and May 21 through May 25, 2012, in the basement of the Navarro County Courthouse, 300 W. Third Ave., Corsicana.

Former players reunite to pay tribute to Woodcock

On Saturday, a large group of women gathered at the IOOF Special Event Center, and they ranged in age from late 20s to mid-40s. Their common denominator?
All had played softball under the coaching and tutelage of Don Woodcock at a point in their lives. -
Early voting enters second week
As of Monday afternoon, 1,452 people had cast ballots in the county, state and national primary elections going on now in the basement of the Navarro County Courthouse, according to Elections Administrator Danda Parker.
Early voting hours are 8 to 5 p.m. for the rest of the week, ending at 5 p.m. Friday. Election day is May 29. -

Organizers of the Corsicana/Navarro County Clean Up Day scheduled for June 2 have advised the Daily Sun of new hours for the event.
The countywide Clean Up Day is being held from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. that day, not until 2 p.m. as previously announced.
