Corsicana Children’s Company will present “The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fair(l)y (Stoopid) Tales” at the Warehouse Living Arts Center, 119 W. Relay for Life fund-raiser will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at McCoy’s, 3000 S. U.S. Highway 287, sponsored by the McCoy’s and Corsicana Daily Sun Relay for Life team. There will be hamburgers and hot dogs, and there will be a car wash as well. All proceeds will go toward Relay for Life.
Angels of Corsicana will meet at 9 a.m. at 1020 N. Business 45. If you have items to donate for supporting the U.S. troops, please bring to the meeting or you can drop them off at the American Legion Post 22, 632 N. Beaton St. after 2 p.m. daily. Many boxes are mailed every month to the troops. If you would like to make a donation to cover the postage, it would be greatly appreciated. Chatfield Volunteer Fire Department will have its annual fish fry from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Chatfield-Tupelo Community Center, Farm-to-Market Road 1603. Cost will be $7.50 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Price includes fish, fries and all the fixings, dessert and a drink.
Relay for Life fund-raiser, featuring a fish fry, will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Olé, 100 N. 15th St. Fish, fries, hush puppies and a drink will be for sale at $6 per plate. Raffle tickets will also be available. There will be some baked goods as well. Proceeds will benefit Relay for Life of Navarro County.
The 12th annual Corsicana Airsho will be held at the Corsicana Municipal Airport, hosted by the Coyote Squadron of the Commemorative Air Force. There will be flying and static displays of aircraft from World War II through the Vietnam War, formation flying demonstrations, radio-controlled aircraft, a classic car show, and food. Gates will open at 8:30 a.m., the flying will begin at 10 a.m., and the fly-off will be at 3 p.m. Cost will be $5 per person, $10 per carload and veterans will be admitted free. Auditions for Norma Russell’s newest musical comedy, “Circus Shambles,” will be at 2 p.m. at the Warehouse Living Arts Center, 119 W. Sixth Ave., with 12 featured roles available for six men and six women (late teens and adults), and numerous chorus members (any age over 12 years old as long as you can sing). Those auditioning should be prepared to sing 16 bars of an upbeat song and dress to move. There will also be cold readings from the script. Rehearsals will begin on June 1. Performance dates will be July 22-25, 27, 29-31. “Circus Shambles” tells the story of a small struggling circus that is in danger of having to “fold its tent.” The bearded lady’s hair is falling out, the fat lady is losing weight, the lion tamer’s lion is in hock for an unpaid feed bill, and the circus ringmaster/owner is resistant to change that could possibly be their salvation. Rice Cemetery Association will meet at the Rice High School gym. The business meeting will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the memorial service at 11 a.m. The memorial service will honor loved ones who have been buried at Rice Cemetery and those buried elsewhere since the last homecoming.
