Sept. 5

The Susan G. Komen 3-Day Team from Corsicana Bedding Inc. will be the waitstaff at La Pradera all day, and all tips will go to the team’s fundraising efforts. Please bring your friends and family, come out and eat, and support a worthy cause!



The Blooming Grove Crime Watch will meet at the Blooming Grove Fire Station at 7 p.m. Precinct 4 commissioner James Olsen will be the speaker. Light refreshments will be served and everyone is welcome.



Eureka Crime Watch wil hold its regular monthly meeting at 1:30 p.m. at the Eureka United Methodist Church. Special guests will be Ken and Linda Williams, volunteers with the KAIROS prison ministry. The Kinsloe House Volunteer Committee, headed by Clara Hickerson, will be responsible for an interesting program titled ‘Rub-a-dub-dub — Chiropractic Myth Busters at noon at Kinsloe House. Speakers will be Patty Hardgrave, a massage therapist, and Dr. Frank Means, well-known chiropractor in Corsicana. The Navarro County Genealogy Society will meet at 10 a.m. in the Nancy Roberts room at the Corsicana Public Library. The public is invited. The program is “Quilts and how they Relate to Our Heritage,” with Nancy Sloan as the speaker. Sloan is quite knowledgable about quilts, having served as president of the Piecemakers Quilt Guild.



2012 Never Forget Memorial Celebration will be held at the American Legion Post #22, 632 N. Beaton, Corsicana. Events will begin at 11 a.m. Texas Senator Brian Birdwell is the keynote speaker. The Navarro County Sheriff’s Office Honor and Color Guard will perform, there will be a Casi Chili Cookoff, silent auction, $300 Gander Mountain Raffle, vendor spaces, face painting and the public is welcome. Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1009 will meet at 7 p.m. at the Sirloin Stockade, 2508 W. Seventh Ave, Corsicana. Membership is open to U.S. armed forces veterans who served on active duty (for other than training purposes) in the Republic of Vietnam between Feb. 28,1961 and May 7,1975, or in ANY duty location between Aug. 5, 1964 and May 7,1975.
