The Corsicana Police Department went through a shuffling of responsibilities this past year, and officers and civilians stepped up to the plate. Those people who took on more than their share to make things work smoothly were honored Friday at the annual police awards ceremony at city hall.
Honored with the Officer of the Year was Cpl. Scott Tidwell, who took on the duties of leading the night shift when his sergeant went over to help organize the records department, according to Police Chief Randy Bratton.
The award for Employee of the Year went to Shirley Morgan, administrative assistant to the chief. Morgan is central to the operations of the department, Bratton said.
Cpl. Paul Jock was named Officer of the Fourth Quarter for 2012, for not only providing a leadership position within the patrol division, but who still kept up his own patrol duties, leading the patrol in drug arrests last year.
Commendations went to Det. Michael Dockery, Cpl. Rex Givens, Sgt. Ladena Baggett, and Asst. Chief Ronny McGaha.
Service awards were given to the following officers: For 15 years of service, Capt. Nori Rhodes, Cpl. Trent Parker, and Cpl. Paul Jock; for 10 years, Officer Scot DeChaume; for five years, Det. Michael Perry, Officer Daniel Putman, and Officer Roderick Tyner.
