May 12
The Coyote Squadron of the Commemorative Air Force will host its ninth annual Corsicana Airsho from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Corsicana Municipal Airport. The event will include flying and static displays of World War II airplanes, warbirds, classic tail-draggers and general aviation planes. There will be formation flight teams, airplane rides, radio controlled airplanes and classic cars. Food and drinks and a host of vendor booths will also be available.
Gospel music concert for charity to benefit Relay for Life will take place at Martin’s Music Hall at 201 S. Beaton St. with dining at 6 p.m. and show beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets will be $10 per person and may be reserved by calling (903) 872-8226. Featured performers will be Cleita Ferrell, New Day Gospel Trio, Tim Brady, Virginia Martin, Blooming Grove Gospel Trio, Jeremy McKissack and Family Gospel, Chelsea Duncan, Brother Grady Cashion, plus more Christian artists.
American Legion Post 22, 632 N. Beaton St., invites members and their guests for an evening of karaoke with Wayne Farmer from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. No cover charge. Post will open at 2 p.m. The Legionnaires will have their 2007 elections at 1 p.m. All members must be in good standing; cards will be checked. Come and vote for the officers of your choice. Younger Cemetery Association will meet at 11 a.m. followed by Sheriff Les Cotten as memorial speaker. Picnic lunch will be enjoyed following the speaker. For more information, call (903) 673-2512.
A free veterans reach out seminar, sponsored by the Hubbard Chamber of Commerce, will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church Activity Center, located on Bois D’Arc Avenue in Hubbard. All veterans, their family members and interested people are invited to attend. Staff from the Waco VA Regional Office, Central Texas Veterans Health Care System, Texas Veterans Land Board and Veterans Service Organizations will be present to offer information and personal assistance with your questions and claims.
The annual trail ride will be held, sponsored by the Hubbard Rodeo Association. Riders need to meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Hubbard City Lakes complex on State Highway 31. Current coggins papers are required. Cost will be $12 per ride, which includes the noon meal. Meal will be pork ribs, baked beans, french fries, dessert and a drink. If you don’t ride, but would like to join the riders for the cookout, the cost will be $4 per person.
Chatfield-Tupelo Community Center will serve breakfast and lunch for people attending various activities in the Chatfield area. The home-cooked breakfast will be served beginning at 7:30 a.m. Lunch will be served beginning at 11:30 a.m. Concessions will be served all day. Booth spaces are available inside and outside the community center. All proceeds from rental spaces and concessions benefit the community center.

A Mother’s Day luncheon will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Kerens Alumni Center, sponsored by Kerens Ex-Students Association. Everyone is invited. The menu will be pork loin, chicken strips, brown onion gravy, cranberry salad, sweet and sour black-eyed peas, creamed potatoes, rolls, peach cobbler, tea and coffee. Cost will be $8 for adults and students and $4 for children under 10 years of age. Proceeds from the luncheon will go toward Kerens High School scholarships. Navarro College SBDC will sponsor a session discussing copyrights and patents from 10 a.m. to noon at the Corsicana/Navarro County Chamber of Commerce, 120 N. 12th St. Cost of the workshop will be $20. Woodmen of the World Lodge 5 will have a Mother’s Day potluck dinner at Liberty Hall at 6 p.m. All members, their families and guests are cordially invited.
Navarro County Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. at Senior Activity Center, 919 W. Park Ave. Honorable Judge John Jackson will be the speaker for the event. Corsicana Band Boosters will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Corsicana High School band hall. Parents of students in Drane Intermediate School, Collins Middle School and Corsicana High School bands and anyone else who is interested in encouraging and supporting the band program are invited to attend.

The district court jury panel set for 1:30 p.m. has been dismissed.
Kerens Masonic Lodge will have a regular stated meeting at 7:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served after lodge. All master masons are invited.
Dawson Community Crime Watch will meet at 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Dawson. A representative from the Navarro County Sheriff’s Office will be in attendance.

Navarro College SBDC will sponsor a government contracting overview and 8a certification combination workshop from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Corsicana/Navarro County Chamber of Commerce, 120 N. 12th St. Cost of the workshop will be $50. Navarro College SBDC will sponsor a marketing overview workshop from 10 a.m. to noon at the Corsicana/Navarro County Chamber of Commerce, 120 N. 12th St. A central contractor registration workshop will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Navarro College Continuing Education Center, 41st Street and Seventh Avenue. North Central Texas WorkForce’s Corsicana Center will host a “Workshop Center Orientation” at 10 a.m. and a job search workshop on “Resume Preparation” at 10 a.m. at its office, 720 N. The spring band concert featuring bands from Drane Intermediate School, Collins Middle School and Corsicana High School will begin at 7 p.m. at the CHS auditorium. The public is invited and welcome to attend.
Navarro County Service Agency Network will meet at noon at the Corsicana Public Library Civic Room, hosted by the House of Refuge. To make lunch reservations, call (903) 874-3894 by May 15. Donation of $3 requested for lunch. The mission of the Navarro County Service Agency Network is to provide opportunities to better serve the residents of Navarro County by sharing of information and resources.

Navarro County Relay for Life will be held at Tiger Field, West State Highway 31, Corsicana. The survivors’ lap will be the first lap of the relay beginning at 7 p.m. May 18. Kerens FFA youth rodeo will be held at 7:30 p.m. May 18-19 at the Kerens Riding Club Arena, South State Highway 309. A benefit will be held for Tyler Malone at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3366, located at Veterans Drive off West State Highway 31, from 8 to 11:30 p.m. Dance music will be provided by Zanada Tally, Billy Roy Mitchum, and a number of other musicians. Tyler, a 9-year-old Mildred student, was injured Feb. 7 in an ATV accident that severed his spine and left him paralyzed. All proceeds from the dance will go to the James and Leslie Grigar for Tyler Malone Fund.
Boys and Girls Club of Navarro County and Lifeline Children and Family Services will sponsor a noonday reception with WFAA TV Channel 8 news anchor Debbie Denmon from noon to 2 p.m. at Lifeline, 5301 W. State Highway 31, Corsicana. Tickets are $10 for adults and $1 for children. Proceeds will be used for the Boys and Girls Club recreation program and Lifeline youth outreach programs. Music in the Park will be held at 6 p.m. at the Frost Park, sponsored by the Frost Volunteer Fire Department. Jimmy Bratcher will join with his band. Bring your lawn chairs and join in for the good music. Barbecue sandwiches and cold drinks will be served for a $5 donation.
A health fair and Indian pow-wow will be held at the Cowboy Church of Ennis, east side of Interstate 45, Exit 244 (Farm-to-Market Road 1182). The health fair will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with inside event booths, low cost SPCA from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. only (all animals must be leashed), children’s events, and outside events. A drug information symposium will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Seventh Floor Conference Room of the Bank of America building, 100 N. Main St. If you believe someone you love has a drug addiction, you need to know the signs and symptoms of addiction, what addiction treatment or help is available, or you have questions about drug addiction, you are invited to attend this symposium, sponsored by DalSan Counseling. The Corsicana Branch of the American Red Cross, in partnership with Northside and Cornerstone Baptist churches, will conduct workshops for mass care sheltering. These are open to the public and all are welcome to join. If you would volunteer your time and skills to serve your community should the need arise, or if you would be prepared to help should Navarro County experience a tornado, call the Red Cross at (903) 874-4551 to learn how you can be involved. A shelter workshop will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. May 19 at Northside Baptist Church, 2800 N. Beaton St., and from 2 to 4 p.m. May 20 at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 801 N. 13th St.
May 19-June 19
Dawson Saddle Club will host a buckle series at 2 p.m. May 19, and June 2 and 19 at the arena located on State Highway 31, one mile from Dawson. Age groups will be 6 and under, 40 and over, western pleasure, barrels, poles, flag, speed, and goat tying and slapping. Cost will be $6 for events and $8 for goats. Hopewell Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting at the cemetery. Guest speaker will be Dot (Bottoms) Hodge of Tyler. The program will begin at 11 a.m. with the business meeting following. A covered dish luncheon will be at noon. Your attendance and support will be appreciated. If inclement weather, it will be held at the Navarro Fire Station.

Emhouse Community Center will meet at 7 p.m. Jim Sjoberg will speak on Japanese Akita dogs and bring one for people to see. Refreshments will be served.
May 21-22
Navarro Regional Hospital Auxiliary will host a $5 jewelry show from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 21 and from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 22 in the hospital dining room. Proceeds from this sale benefit the Winona Stewart Scholarship Fund for Navarro College students going into a medical field.
May 22
Pesticide applicators’ license training will be held in the Conference Room in the basement of the Navarro County Courthouse. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. Test will be administered after the training to obtain a private pesticide applicators license. There will be a $60 license fee. Training manuals are available at Texas Cooperative Extension office for $20 for those who wish to study before hand. Calculators may be used during the test. Kerens Bobcats PTO invites you to the first “Celebrate Summer” family picnic from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Kerens Elementary playground. Admission will be free. Bring a picnic lunch and blanket and enjoy an afternoon of fun. There will be family relay races beginning at 10:45 a.m. with prizes for the winners. Tickets will be sold for the bounce house, sucker pull ad grab bags. Nachos, pickles, popcorn and beverages will also be sold. Hubbard Memorial Day Weekend Trade Days will kick off with its annual pancake breakfast from 7 to 9 a.m. May 26 at the Hubbard Volunteer Fire Department. Other May 26 events include the Historic Hubbard High School open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the fifth annual Lone Star Rodeo at 8 p.m. at Mooney Holloway Arena on State Highway 31. There will also be a matinee rodeo performance at 2 p.m. May 27. May 28 events will include a meal at the fire station from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., a downtown patriotic Memorial Day parade at 11 a.m., and a memorial service at noon at Fairview Cemetery. City, county call joint meeting
The Corsicana City Council and the Navarro County Commissioners Court will meet in a special joint work session of the city and county commissioners at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Corsicana Government Center to discuss how to split costs on the shared services, such as EMS, fire fighting, animal shelter and library, as well as reimbursing the county for tax collections.

The Corsicana Independent School District board of trustees will meet at 6 p.m. March 24 in a special called meeting for discussion with TASB consultant regarding superintendent/CEO search process in open session.

County to seek appraisal of property
The Navarro County commissioners are going to seek an independent appraisal of the former Griffin property co-owned by the city and county. The decision was made late Friday in a special meeting of the commissioners.

Youth Expo Schedule
This year’s Navarro County Youth Exposition will be held March 22-27 at the Navarro County Exposition Center. Steak dinner tickets will be sold in advance at the Youth Expo office or on the day of the event at $8 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.
