Mildred’s Fraser takes top prize in Swine division

It was opposite ends of the county that took top honors in the Swine Division competition of the 2008 Navarro County Youth Expo held Wednesday.

Mildred sixth grader Landon Fraser was named grand champion by judge Mickey Bellamy of Ft. Cobb, Okla.

“It felt pretty good ... it was good to beat my brother,” said Landon, whose brother Aaron won reserve grand champion in 2005. “I’ve never really won anything before, except at baseball.”

Landon is the son of Sean and Jennifer Bynum. He competed for Mildred 4-H.

Jake Adair was tapped as the reserve grand champion for 2008 by Bellamy.

“I’ve been showing since third grade and I’ve never won a reserve or a grand champion before,” Jake said after the show. “It was great, I just can’t express it.”

He offered a special thanks to Josh Putman for all his help this year.

Jake added a grand championship Wednesday night as well, taking top honors in the Senior Showmanship held after the championship drive.

He is a junior at Blooming Grove High School and competed for Blooming Grove FFA. Jake is the son of Steve and Louann Adair.
