Frost Volunteer Fire Department has a community service center to help families in the area, who have lost their homes to fire, those with a financial need or those with catastrophic medical conditions. Donations are accepted from 3 to 5 p.m. the second and fourth Saturdays of the month at the Community Service Center, located on Garitty Street in Frost. For more information, call (903) 229-0747. Frost VFD has smoke detectors available, at no charge, for the fire protection of qualified households which may include the elderly, disabled and economically disadvantaged. Applications may be obtained from the Frost VFD, Frost City Hall, Corsicana Fire Department or Corsicana Government Center. Also, if you have a loved one serving the United States overseas, and you would like to make a video DVD to make their day a little brighter, Frost VFD wants to help you get your message to those loved ones. Navarro County Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance meets at 7 p.m. each Tuesday in the fellowship hall at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 101 N. 14th St. All are welcome to learn to give and to receive support at the weekly meetings. On the first Tuesday of each month, Dr. Tom Sheriff, licensed psychologist, conducts a study of “The Depression Workbook: A Guide for Living with Depression and Manic Depression.” For more information, call (903) 872-6302 or (903) 874-6815.



Central Appraisal District holds its board meetings at 3 p.m. the third Wednesday of each month at 111 E. First Ave.



TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) No. 1693, a non-profit organization, meets from 10 to 11 a.m. every Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, 320 N. 15th St., Corsicana. Weigh-ins are from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Anyone interested in losing weight with a strong support system is welcome. A grief support luncheon is offered at noon on the first Wednesday of each month at the office of Hospice of Cedar Lake, 625 N. Main St. The lunch is potluck, so just bring a favorite dish. Navarro College Testing Center will offer GED testing. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and closes as soon as all appointments are filled or at noon, whichever comes first. Dates are as follows: Registration, May 7 — test, May 12-13; registration, May 27 — test, June 2-3; and registration, June 30 — test, July 7-8. If you know any children to age 21 who have physical, mental or emotional problems who are not receiving an education, no matter what the problem, nor its severity, the child is entitled to an education. In compliance with federal laws, Corsicana Independent School District offers a number of special programs for students with disabilities. Corsicana Downtown R.O.S.E. Association meets at 6 p.m. the third Thursday of each month at the Corsicana/Navarro County Chamber of Commerce, 120 N. 12th St.



A blood pressure clinic, sponsored by Vital Signs Home Health and Hospice, will be held at 10 a.m. the second Wednesday of each month in the sunroom of Friendship Towers. For more information, call (903) 874-4745.
