Home Rebekah Lodge No. 128
Corsicana Home Rebekah Lodge No. 128 has been collecting children’s books. Recently, Ernie Fincher, a volunteer with Navarro Regional Hospital Auxiliary and a member of the Rebekah Lodge, delivered the children’s books to the hospital’s Emergency Department and Radiology Department waiting rooms. The lodge is also collecting peanut butter and jelly for the Navarro County Food Pantry and tabs from cans for cancer patients.
Dawson Divas
On May 19, Dawson Divas, Red Hat Society, enjoyed a dinner meeting at La Pradera Restaurant in Corsicana. Queen Diva Robbye Nesmith welcomed everyone. Happy birthday was wished for Trisha Lewis and Cathy Spruiell. The Divas enjoyed a delicious meal and the fun they always have visiting with members from Corsicana and other points east of Dawson.
On June 16, the meeting was supposed to have been at the Dawson City Park pavilion. However, the weather would not permit the outdoor old-fashioned picnic. Consequently, the get-together was held at 6:30 p.m. in the Dawson Educational Center on Main Street in Dawson. Members brought baskets or other containers decorated for the occasion and filled with goodies for refreshments.
Lena Mae Carver, Linda Mixon and Gelene Simpson were hostesses. They provided special treats of Coca-Cola floats. Cathy Spruiell furnished ice tea. A lively round of bingo was the entertainment. Prizes were awarded to the winners.
Happy birthday was wished for Clowie Lewis, Jo Walker, Dorothy Ganze, Daisy Beggs and Carolyn Barton.
At 6:30 p.m. July 21, the Divas will meet at Sirloin Stockade in Corsicana. Members are encouraged to bring a friend.
