The CHS Calico dance officers will hold a fund-raising golf tournament beginning at 9 a.m. at the Oak Trail Golf Course. The tournament will be a four-person scramble. Entry fees are $260 per team. Lunch will be provided. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third places, longest drive and closest to the pin. A benefit for Bruce Holman will be held beginning at 5 p.m. at the Frost School gym. There will be a brisket dinner, an auction, and live music. Holman, a former resident of Frost and son of William and Linda Meskiman, was severely injured in an accident April 26. He will have many months of physical therapy. You are invited to come support Holman and his family. Also, a bank account has been established for donations at Community National Bank and Trust. Donations may be made to “Frost Volunteer Fire Department for Bruce Holman” at the Frost, Streetman and Fairfield bank locations, or at either of the two Corsicana locations.
The 110th Masonic District will have officer installation at 2 p.m. at the Corsicana Masonic Lodge. The Eastern Star ladies will serve refreshments after the ceremony. The public is invited.
The City of Dawson will have two dumpsters in town for disposal of trash and unwanted items. The collection units, reserved for use by City of Dawson residents only, will be located on Second Street in Farmersville and near the Dawson Volunteer Fire Department. No tires, paint or old batteries will be accepted.
The annual Prairie Point picnic will be held. Potluck dinner will be served at noon.

Any potential and current Tiger Band members and parents are invited for an informal information night in the Corsicana High School Band Hall at 6 p.m. Students and parents will also have a chance to meet the new band director, Michael Williamson. Food and drink will be provided. Everyone is encouraged to attend. Any questions about the band program will be answered. Parking will be provided behind the band hall next to the tennis courts.
Barry Crime Watch will meet at 7 p.m. at Barry United Methodist Church. The speaker will be Fred Biltz, Senior Activity Center director.

Navarro County Historical Society will hold its rescheduled meeting at 7 p.m. at the Senior Activity Center, 919 W. Park Ave., across from Pioneer Village. The speaker will be Betty Lambert, volunteer coordinator for the Pearce Civil War Museum at Navarro College. Many Navarro County men fought in the “War Between the States” and many died for the cause. This will be an interesting and informative program. Everyone is invited to attend and enjoy an after-meeting social and enjoy conversations with your fellow historians. Refreshments will be served.

Community Resource Council of the Corsicana Residential Treatment Center (Corsicana State Home) will have its seventh annual celebrity wait from 5 to 9 p.m. at Napoli’s, 111 E. Collin St. Tips received will go toward incentives for students at the CRTC. Funds raised can be used for graduation gifts, birthday cakes, small gifts, travel funds for family members, and various other things that the state does not pay for. You are invited to come support the resource council in this fund-raising endeavor.
Black Hills Cemetery Association will have its annual fund-raiser at Retreat Community Building, located on Farm-to-Market Road 709. Students will need a sack lunch. “Innovative Imagineers” for sixth through eighth grades and from ninth to 12th grades will meet from 2 to 5 p.m. at a cost of $65. Former Mildred school leader passes
Doug Lane, who was superintendent of schools at Mildred Independent School District for 24 years until retiring in 2011, died Sunday at a hospital in Tyler. He was 70 years old.
