The 2008 Kerens Cotton Harvest Festival will be held from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. in historic downtown Kerens. VOICE will host its annual family fun fall festival from 2 to 5:30 p.m. in the Bank of America parking lot. Corsicana city crews discovered a massive water leak under Forest Lane Friday, resulting in the loss of about one million gallons of water.

Top Ducks
The Mexia chapter of Ducks Unlimited has taken the title of top fundraiser in the state of Texas, surpassing Houston, which was the lead group in 2008. The Mexia Chapter raised in excess of $115,000 in 2009, according to J.E. “Yazoo” Thomas the East Texas Regional Director for Ducks Unlimited.
