Warehouse Theatre’s Corsicana Children’s Company fall acting classes for second and third grades will be held at the theatre, 119 W. Sixth Ave. The classes will be held from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays beginning Sept. 24 and continuing for a six-week session. “All Aboard! Planes, Trains & Automobiles” will allow the kids to catch a ride on the imagination express and discover new talents through fun and exciting performance activities. Workforce Solutions for North Central Texas will host a “Workforce Center Orientation” at 10 a.m. and a job search workshop on “Interview Tips” at 10 a.m. at its office, 720 N. Navarro College PAL will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Cook Center on the Navarro College campus. All senior citizens in the area are invited to attend. A free veterans benefit and job fair, open to veterans and their dependents, will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Workforce Solutions for North Central Texas, 720 N. Collins Middle School students are currently taking donations for those affected by Hurricane Ike. The students collect donations weekdays from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. during their lunch times. You may also drop off a donation at the CMS office during regular school hours.

Blooming Grove Historical Society will have an outside bake sale fund-raiser beginning at 8 a.m. in downtown Blooming Grove on Fordyce Street near Prosperity Bank.
Twilight Home, a non-profit facility, will have a homecoming hamburger dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Fourth Avenue parking lot on the west side of the nursing home. Hamburger plates will be sold for a donation of $6 and will include a burger with trimmings, pinto beans, chips and dessert. Plates are to go only. Tickets may be purchased at Twilight Home or call (903) 872-2521 to reserve tickets. A limited number of tickets will be sold the day of the hamburger dinner.

Corsicana Art League will sponsor “Paint Historic Corsicana.” Look for the bright yellow shirts as artists paint the historic sights of Corsicana during the day Oct. 3-4. Anyone interested in participating check in at the Corsicana Visitor Center after 8 a.m. Oct. 3. Cost will be $15 which includes shirt. Paintings will be taken to The Art Spot at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 4 for a reception, judging and sale. Paintings will be hung a the Corsicana/Navarro County Chamber of Commerce throughout October.

The 2008 Hangar Dance and Dinner will be held from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Corsicana Municipal Airport, sponsored by Corsicana Field Aviation Heritage Foundation. Music will be provided by the Corsicana Swing Orchestra. A barbecue dinner will be served from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Advanced ticket prices are $20 per person and may be purchased at the airport or by phone. Gander Mountain now home to small deer population
When Gander Mountain opened in August of 2004, it did so with an outdoor ATV track, giving potential buyers an avenue, of sorts, to test models out. The last several years, that patch of grass has been barren.
