MLK Center board conducts a senior citizen program from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. every first and third Tuesday of the month. Senior citizens are invited to come and be a part. Bi-Stone Antique Tractor Club meets at 6:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at the Freestone County Sheriff’s Office Training Center, U.S. Highway 84, two miles west of Teague. New Beginnings group of Alcoholics Anonymous meets at 7 p.m. every Monday in the family activities building at First United Methodist Church, 320 N. 15th St. All meetings are non-smoking.
Free GED, ESL and literacy classes are offered in Corsicana, Ennis, Fairfield, Ferris, Mexia, Midlothian, Red Oak and Waxahachie. Day and evening classes are available. Educational materials will be provided in the classroom. Navarro County Animals at Risk Foundation meets at 6:30 p.m. the third Monday of every month in the sunroom at Heritage Oaks West. Visitors and anyone interested in animal welfare are always welcome. NCARF is also collecting empty ink jet cartridges, empty laser cartridges and digital cell phones to be recycled. Money received from the recycling will help the homeless and neglected animals of Navarro County. Instead of just tossing these items away, save them and save the life of a deserving cat or dog. Navarro Regional Hospital Auxiliary has a cookbook called “Volunteers in the Kitchen” for sale in the hospital gift shop at $18. Recipes were compiled from the auxiliary volunteers. Proceeds go toward the Winona Stewart Scholarship Fund, which is for students attending Navarro College who are going into the medical field.
Any old interior pictures of the Navarro County Courthouse are being sought. Those during the inception of the courthouse (1905) through the 1930s are especially needed. If you have one of these photos, the Corsicana Preservation Foundation would like to borrow them for a short period of time. You may drop off your photos with Lowell Dunn at Moe and Dunn PLLC, 1200 W. Second Ave.; or with Hugh Stroube at U Store, 310 N. 12th St.
A grief support luncheon is offered at noon on the first Wednesday of each month at the office of Hospice of Cedar Lake, 625 N. Main St. The lunch is potluck, so just bring a favorite dish.
