Instructor receives award from John Deere

From Staff Reports

Kip Whorton was recently recognized by the John Deere Company for having achieved advanced-level recognition as a John Deere TECH instructor at the Navarro College John Deere TECH college partnership program. This achievement was earned by Whorton, who has completed the extensive John Deere product technical training by demonstrating his exceptionally high-level, John Deere technical skills and knowledge. Whorton received a special plaque to recognize and honor his significant accomplishments.

John Deere TECH instructors earn John Deere University credit hours in various product categories to ensure technical expertise and an in-depth understanding of John Deere products. This John Deere company-supported training program is just one way that colleges improve John Deere TECH instructor capabilities to better educate the John Deere TECH students in preparation for their careers.

Today’s John Deere equipment has a significant amount of new technology and high-performance computer systems designed into it. It is critically important for John Deere dealers to have highly trained service technicians that can deliver exceptional technical support to John Deere customers.

Navarro College and the John Deere Company partner together to offer training in developing entry-level technicians with the required high standards of technical expertise that will prepare those students to begin their careers as John Deere dealership service technicians. The John Deere TECH program encompasses two years of college classes to earn an associate degree from the college.
