County Day in Austin moved
From Staff Reports
The Corsicana/Navarro County Chamber of Commerce has announced a change of dates for the upcoming Navarro County Day in Austin.
Scheduling problems with facilities at the state capitol forced organizers of the bi-annual trip to Austin to move the date back one day. It is now scheduled for Wednesday, March 11, according to Paul Hooper, executive director of the chamber.
The chamber charters a bus for the trip, leaving from the chamber parking lot early in the morning, and returning after the day trip in Austin and a dinner stop on the return. Those attending are expected to include members of the Leadership Corsicana program, as well as city and county government officials, and members of the general public. The trip is open to all who wish to attend, Hooper said.
While in Austin, participants will tour the capitol building, observe both the House and Senate as they conduct business, and hear from representatives from several branches of state government. Planned for this year are presentations by the Comptroller’s office, Department of Agriculture, TxDOT, and the Texas Education Agency, Hooper said.
Details of the exact schedule of activities and cost for the trip are being finalized and will be announced this week, Hooper said. Those wishing to attend may reserve a space now by calling the chamber office at (903) 874-4731.
