Post Oak SUD board posts open

Eligible candidates may apply for a place on the ballot for an upcoming election for three positions on the Post Oak Special Utility District board of directors.

An election will be held May 9, 2009, for Position 3, currently held by Mary Elizabeth Spearman; Position 4, held by board secretary and treasurer Melvin Norman; and Position 5, held by board vice president Kenneth Cavanaugh. Other board members are president Kerry Feller, Jerry Petty, David Smith and Norman Wootan.

To be qualified as a director, a person must be at least 18 years old, a resident citizen of Texas, and either own land subject to taxation in the district, be a user of the facilities of the district, or be a qualified voter of the district.

Candidates may obtain an application for a place on the ballot from Dorthy Jackson, City of Hubbard (office management for Post Oak), 118 N. Magnolia Ave., Hubbard, or by writing to Post Oak Special Utility District, P.O. Box 246, Hubbard, TX 76648. Deadline to file is 5 p.m. March 9, 2009.

Post Oak is a political subdivision of the State of Texas providing potable water to the cities of Coolidge and Hubbard and approximately 730 rural customers in Hill, Limestone and Navarro counties.
