Post Oak SUD cancels director election
Post Oak Special Utility District board of directors in a recent regular meeting canceled a May 9 election for three board positions. The board certified three current board members as unopposed and declared each of them elected to an additional term.
The reelected directors are: Mary Elizabeth Spearman, Position 3; board secretary and treasurer Melvin Norman, Position 4; and board vice president Kenneth Cavanaugh, Position 5. Other members of the board are board president Kerry Feller, Jerry Petty, Norman Wootan and Danny Miles.
To be qualified as a director, a person must be at least 18 years old; a resident citizen of Texas; and either own land subject to taxation in the district, be a user of the facilities of the district, or be a qualified voter of the district.
Post Oak is a political subdivision of the State of Texas providing potable water to the cities of Coolidge and Hubbard and approximately 730 rural customers in Hill, Navarro and Limestone counties.

Girl Scouts cancel Saturday event
The Girl Scout Luau signup scheduled for Saturday at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Navarro County has been postponed, according to JoAnn Luna of Girl Scouts of North Texas.
No date has been selected to reschedule the event at this time, according to Luna
