Corsicana Newcomers Club

Corsicana Newcomers Club will hold its monthly meeting May 28 at Kinsloe House, 618 W. Third Ave. Social time will be 11 a.m. and lunch will be at 11:30 a.m. Lunch will be $12 and yearly dues are $10. The May speaker will be Frank Martinez with Navarro Regional Hospital. He will speak on women’s health initiative. Newcomers Club is a way to meet new friends, especially if you are new to the area, but anyone may join. Woman’s Club House Association

The Thalian Club will host the contribution luncheon June 3 at Kinsloe House. To honor Thalian’s 50-year anniversary, Dave Tanner will present a musical program titled “1959 — A Golden Anniversary Celebration.” In this very special program, you will enjoy the news events, top Broadway and Hollywood shows and the memorable songs of those years as you reminisce over the past half century.

Tanner has made several trips to Corsicana to perform at Kinsloe luncheons. He has been a accomplished entertainer for 35 years and has performed for European royalty, leaders of business and three U.S. presidents. In addition, he has worked in over 300 radio and TV commercials. A fifth-generation Texan from Gainesville, Tanner and his family live in Irving.

This program is guaranteed to entertain you as you travel down the last 50 years on memory lane. All members of the Thalian Club participated in the planning and decorating for this special event. To make reservations, call Kinsloe House at (903) 874-5791 no later than noon June 1. No cancellations will be accepted after this time.



ABWA

The Navarro Chapter of American Business Women’s Association held its monthly meeting May 11 at Kinsloe House, 618 W. Third Ave., Corsicana. The program was “The 17 Secret Steps to Success” with guest speaker Stuart Schoppert from Workforce Solutions of North Central Texas.

This month’s business meeting was the annual election of officers for the 2009-2010 term to start in August 2009. The new officers are: Becky Long, president; Kelly Black, vice president; Rebekah Moss, recording secretary; Sandra Palmer, corresponding secretary; and Lou Ann Allen, treasurer.

The outgoing and incoming officers will meet June 2.

ABWA is open to all women who reside or work in Navarro County.

The next regular meeting will be 6:30 p.m. June 8 at Kinsloe House. The program will be “Going Green” with guest speaker David Yates from KAND Radio.
