The action-packed comedy “Marriage is Murder” by Nick Hall will be featured as this year’s 3rd Annual VOICE Kerens Summer FUNdraiser June 26 and 27 at the Legion Hut in Kerens
The play stars David Ross as Paul Butler and Gina Dieterichs as Polly Butler. The show will be directed by Barbara Latta. Performances are at 6:30 both nights at the Legion Hut, 101 SE 5th Street in Kerens. Tickets are $15 each and will include a short live auction with auctioneer Kirby Hill and a dessert intermission.
Marriage is Murder is a comedy filled with non-stop laughs. The show centers around two ex-spouses who reunited to write another murder mystery. The couple “tries out” different plots, murder weapons, and takes lots of jabs at each other throughout the show.
The set of this comedy has been worked around seating so that the audience has a sense of actually being in the couple’s apartment to watch the story unfold.
“It has been wonderful to work with David Ross again,” said Gina Dieterichs. The two performed “Marriage is Murder” several years ago at The Warehouse Theater in Corsicana. “When deciding on a fundraiser for Kerens this year, I remembered how much fun we had with this show and the audience really seems to enjoy it.”
The Kerens FUNdraiser has always drawn lots of attention and support. The first year was a Summer Fashion Show featuring men in ladies clothing and last summer was a spoof of the old television variety show Hee Haw.
The mission of VOICE is to empower children to live healthy and productive lives through education, advocacy, and community collaboration. VOICE provides programs and services to Navarro, Hill, Henderson, Limestone, and Freestone Counties.
Tickets for both performances of “Marriage is Murder” are now on sale. Advance ticket purchases are recommended as limited seating is available. Tickets can be purchased at VOICE, and The Blue Onion Gift Shop in Kerens. Reservations may also be made by calling VOICE at (903) 872-0180, or by e-mail to gdieterichs@voiceinc.org.
