CISD recognizes achievements through ‘C Awards’

Corsicana —

Teachers, volunteers and students were all honored Monday as the Corsicana Independent School District Board of Trustees handed out the district’s “C Awards” for the month.

The district’s “C Awards” go to individuals who go “above and beyond” in the interest of the students in the CISD through instruction, support or achievements.

The awards — presented by several board members — included the reading of a “nomination letter” about the recipients, and the presentation of a certificate commemorating the award.

Honors presented Monday included awards to Mindy Maass, presented by board member Father Ed Monk; Darlene Jackson, honored by board member Barbara Kelley; Robert “Bubba” Wallace, presented by Terry Seth; and CISD science teachers Wendy Steele, Paula Carrico and Martha Hartley, recognized by board member Scott Watkins.

The board also paid special recognition to three students as a part of the evening, including two participants in the Drane Science Fair, and a crowning achievement in scouting.

Hayden Boyd just received his “Eagle Scout” designation, and was given a letter acknowledging his success by CISD Board President Kerri Anderson-Donica.

Jack Blaton, 12, and Lexi White, 11, both winners in the Drane School Science Fair, were also recognized by trustees, as both students shared their projects with the board.
