Texas Night Out, when residents come outdoors to meet their neighbors and promote crime prevention, will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Jester Park Pavilion, on North 19th Street near the Jester Park Pool.
The Corsicana Police Department will be serving up free hot dogs, drinks and chips, and K9 Officer Kenneth Darby and his dog Dina will be on hand to meet the public. Some less well-trained but still lovable dogs and cats will be available for adoption from the Corsicana Animal Shelter that night, as well.
Free drawings to give away children’s bicycles will also take place that evening. A large inflatable slide will be set up to entertain the kids.
October is also fire prevention month and the Corsicana Fire Department will have a fire truck and ambulance at the event, and representatives with the Child Advocacy Center will be passing out child safety information, as will IMPACT Navarro, a non-profit agency that promotes drug and alcohol prevention in youth.
Helping make the event a success will be volunteers from the Kohl’s Distribution Center, Applebee’s, Chili’s, Corsicana Children’s Dental Group, and Voice.
