Corsicana — Straight Way Missionary Baptist Church, 400 S. 15th St., where Pastor A.E. Smith serves as under-shepherd to the Shepherd, will observe its mission program at 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 30. Evangelist F. Kitchen is president of the mission society. Sunday School is at 9:45 a.m., and the Mistress of ceremony for the 11 a.m. worship is Evangelist D. Jackson. The speaker of the hour is Deaconess Patricia Daniels. Straightway Missionary Baptist Church will have two services to honor its Pastor and Wife’s 16th Anniversary. This 16th Appreciation Celebration for Pastor A.E. Smith and Sister Linda Smith will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4 with the youth and sanctuary choir sponsoring. Guest speaker will be Pastor C. Chambers and the 13th Ave. Baptist Church family. Then on Sunday, Oct. 7 at 3 p.m. the celebration will continue with special guest pastor Nathan Carter and the Mt. B Zion Baptist Church. The Straightway Church Family invites the public to participate in all these services.



Taylor’s Memorial COGIC Total Man Ministry, 1624 East G.W. Jackson, will hold a Homecoming celebration at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012. Guest speaker will be Ernie Sample of Victory Sanctuary, Dallas.



Unity Baptist Church, 101 S. 30th St., where Chad Owens is pastor, invites you to services: Sunday School 9:45 a.m.  Sunday worship and children’s church at 11 a.m., Training Classes at 5 p.m., worship at 6 p.m., and Wednesday - Mid Week Service at 7 p.m. Kings Kids class meets the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month. Tuesday, a group from Unity visits shut-ins. Thursday, there is a Bible study at Northwest Apartments Community Center at 7 p.m.  Sunday, a group teaches and sings at Twilight Nursing Home at 9 a.m. and another group sings at Country Meadows at 2 p.m.  We will have Family Day this Sunday at 11 a.m. Lunch will be served.  For transportation to services, call (903)872-2861. Pelham Community Homecoming will celebrate its 55th annual Oct. 12-14. Friday night, Oct. 12 at 7:30 p.m. will be a worship service with Rev. Charles Kelly as the master of ceremonies at the Wesley United Methodist Church, and Rev. Earnest Sample Sr. of West as speaker. On Saturday, Oct. 13, from 2 to 6 p.m. will be Pelham “Fun and Frolic.” Family and friends will enjoy activities at the Pelham Community History Museum. Bring your lawn chairs, Museum will be open for tours. The celebration will culminate on Sunday with homecoming worship services at 10:45 a.m. at the Wesley United Methodist Church, Rev. Elgin Taylor, President Emeritus of Christians in Action International of Dallas speaking. Dinner will be served following services at the Pelham Community Center.



Eureka United Methodist Church, 8644 S. Hwy 287, will hold its Lord’s Acre celebration Oct. 6. Barbecue dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. The meal will consist of brisket, pinto beans,  potato salad, bread, pickles, onions and homemade pies with coffee or tea. Adult meals are $8, children age 3 and under are free. The country kitchen will be open from 10 a.m. to noon, 4 to 7 p.m., and the auction will be at 7:30 p.m. The drawing for the quilt will be held during the auction. Lone Star Cowboy Church of Navarro County, located at 4495 W. State Hwy. 22, invites all to join us for our Sunday Church Services starting at 10 a.m. There is nursery for babies through age 2 years and activities for 3 and 4 year olds. Children ages 5 through 12 are invited to meet in the children’s building for Children’s Church.  There are also the following activities, Monday Nights at 7 p.m., Mounted Shooting; Tuesday 7 p.m., Team Roping and Women’s fellowship. 7 p.m. each Wednesday is Bible Study and Youth Service. Barrel racing is held at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Sept. 29 is Benefit Team Roping for Jason Bottoms, with books opening and barbecue dinner at 6 p.m. Ropin’ starts at 7 p.m. There will be an Eatin Meetin’ on Sept. 30; a Trail Ride at Lake Whitney on Oct. 6; a Flea Market on Oct. 12 and 13; Ranch Rodeo on Oct. 20; Truck or Treat Halloween Event will be Oct. 31.



Church of Grace Without Walls Ministry extends greetings to all precious souls. Johnson Memorial Church of God in Christ, 1600 S. Bus. Hwy 45, invites the public to attend its Chat and Chew Bible Study each Tuesday at 7 p.m. Elder Joseph Johnson Sr., senior pastor of Johnson Memorial, will be the teacher. Please come and be a part of this prophetic teaching.

Petty’s Chapel Baptist Church and Pastor Elvin Sikes Sr. invite the public to our weekly services; Sunday:  8:30 a.m. worship services, 9:30 a.m. time for fellowship,  9:45 a.m. Sunday school,  Wednesday night begins at 6:30 p.m. with praise, worship, and prayer meeting.  Youth activities are also held at 6:30 p.m.  Petty’s Chapel is a family church that is focused on ministry to all ages.  It is located on old Roane Road one half mile east of I-45.  The physical address is 1300 FM 3041.



Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 2105 East Jones Ave. is celebrating its 100th year. Activities begin Saturday, Oct. 6 with Fall Festival/Harvest from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Matthew 9:37 “Then saith He unto his disciples, the Harvest truly is plentious, but the laborers are few.” There will be fun for all ages, including a clothes and coats giveaway, free food, entertainment, a talent show, health information booths with Bethany Home Health and Care-A-Lot Home Health, as well as someone to help with pre-needs arrangements and all kinds of games. Door prizes will be given away. The congregation is so thankful and excited to celebrate this 100th year, and asks God to shine a bright light upon Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church. Shady Grove Baptist Church, 10040 SW CR 4220, Purdon, announces that it will hold a Fifth Sunday singing at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30. The public is invited to come join for country gospel, bluegrass gospel, gospel with guitars, steel guitars, pianos, etc. and several different groups from the county will be present. First Assembly of God, Hwy 31, Dawson, welcomes Don and Cyndie Jeter, overseas missionaries to the service at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30. They have served in Miami, Portugal, Spain and Cuba. Don is a professor at the Assemblies of God Bible School in Cordoba, Spain and the couple is active in leadership roles in a church plant in the historic university city of Alcala de Henares, where they serve as elders, teachers, and on the ministerial staff. This couple has served the Lord for 40 years as missionaries, and look forward to sharing their experiences with the congregation at First Assembly of God, Dawson.



Bethel A.M.E. Church, And the Dennis Johnson Missionary Society is pleased to announce its Minister of Music, Bro. Jason Forge, as its missionary speaker at the 11 a.m. service Sunday, Sept. 30. Bro. Jason is a native of Mexia. He accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age. He preached his first sermon in January 2004 and is still an Ambassador for Christ. The public is invited to attend this service.



Life in the Word Bible Church, 1403 N. Beaton, where Emma Brown-Jessie is the pastor invites you to come and fellowship at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, 2012. Elder Mary Slaughter and Prophetess Beverly Jackson will be the guest speakers.



 Harmony Baptist Church, 400 East 12th Avenue, will hold Fifth Sunday Mission Service on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012 at 11:30 a.m.  Missionary Nora Taylor will be our guest speaker.  The women of Harmony, under the leadership of First Lady Vanessa Baker, will be in charge at this service. Sis. Annie Solomon is mission president.

 Also, at 3:30 p.m., the church will hold an appreciation service for its pianist, Sis. Jewell Gooden.  Sis. Gooden has served faithfully at her position for over 30 years.  We welcome all to come by to show support and to help us lift up the name Jesus as we celebrate in this great occasion. Bishop John Baker is pastor and Elder Michael Williams is associate minister.



Corsicana Ministerial Alliance will hold its monthly meeting Oct. 1, 2012 at the UCF Building across from Navarro College. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. and the meeting will begin at 12 noon. All ministers in Corsicana and the surrounding areas are invited to attend. The CMA would also like to thank Green Worx Printing for donating the worship bulletins for the 9/11 service and it would like to thank the members of Trinity Baptist Church for hosting the event and providing refreshments following the service.



Trinity Baptist Church will hold a very special service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 30. Brother Glenn Berry, retired police chief from Sulphur, La. will share a musical concert with the church. He visited Trinity Baptist last year and blessed their hearts with his music. The community is invited to share in this very special time. A love offering will be taken to help Berry take two mission trips to the country of Nicaragua later this year. The service will be followed by a potluck church-wide dinner.

Sixth Ave. Baptist Church, 125 S. Fifth St., and its Reaching Out To You Ministry cordially invites you to “Fifth Sunday Women in Action” at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 30. God’s Holy Temple COGIC located at 301 E. Third Ave. downtown Corsicana will present at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, Sis. Debra Miller and friends sharing their life story from the fast lane to the road of victory in Christ Jesus. Mistress of ceremony will be Sis. Jackie Townsel, and special guest will be Open Door COGIC and Greater Love Outreach Fellowship Church. Speakers will be Sis. Debra Miller and word of encouragment by Pastor Eric Grant. Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012 is Women Day Service at 10 a.m. Sunday School hour. Subject of the lesson: Faith Instills Love. Hebrews 13-1-6 / 1st Corinthians 13,  Women Day theme is “Love.”  All ladies are encouraged to wear white.  At 4 p.m. second year pre-anniversary service ends with special guest speaker and congregation Pastor Patrick Mays of Truvine Temple Of Faith COGIC, Waxahachie.  Frost United Methodist Church will hold its Lord’s Acre celebration on Oct. 6, 2012 in the Frost School Cafeteria. Lunch will be served from 11:30 am to 1 p.m., with take-outs being ready at 11 a.m. The meal will consist of brisket, sausage, chicken, beans, potato salad, coleslaw, cake and tea. Adult meals are $7, children 12 and under are $4. The country store will be open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the auction will start at 1 p.m.



Wesley United Methodist Church will have a Blessing of the Animals on Sunday, Sept. 30 at 3 p.m.  This is part of the Celebration & Consecration of their new playground and youth gardens for their new after-school program called “Noah’s Kids” that will begin in October.  The Celebration begins at 4 p.m. with live gospel music by The Eternal River Band and a free hot dog supper.  The community is invited to both events.  The only requirement is that if you bring a pet to be blessed, it must be on a leash or carried in your arms.  Hope to see you there!  



New Bethel Baptist Church, 700 Elm Flat Road, Goodlow, invites everyone to its Mission Program where the women will sponsor a Prayer and Praise service, with special guest speaker Evangelist Frances Bivins at 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 30. At 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30 the Harmony Baptist District Association will hold its Fifth Sunday Board where teaching, singing and gospel preaching will be abundant. Host pastor is Earnest Betts.
