Corsicana — Corsicana Police Department

• A woman reported her car stolen sometime between April 1 and Monday of this week from the 1300 block of South 15th Street.

• A theft of over $500 in items was reported Monday from the 2800 block of West Second Avenue. In addition, the thieves did more than $50 in damage.

• A man reported that someone broke into his house Tuesday in the 4100 block of West State Highway 31. The man said no force was used to gain admittance.

• Phone calls and texting from one individual to another had become “annoying and alarming,” according to a police report filed Tuesday evening in the 3500 block of Kings Circle.

• A would-be burglar was stopped and charged with burglary, evading arrest and unlawful possession of a firearm Wednesday just after midnight in the 1200 block of West Call Ave.

• A man was cited for trying to use his brother’s identity during a traffic stop Tuesday night in the 1900 block of MLK.

• Some peddlers were trying to sell perfume around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the HEB parking lot, and they were going around “banging” on people’s windows.



Navarro County Sheriff’s Office

• A 15-inch saddle with saddle bags valued at $600 was stolen Tuesday from Northeast County Road 2120 near Kerens.

• A lawn mower with a leaf bagger was stolen Tuesday from North Main in Dawson.

• Various expensive parts and accessories for bulldozers were stolen Wednesday from a piece of equipment parked on West Highway 22 overnight.

• Some painters equipment, a bag of tools, some cleaning items, and a small white refrigerator were stolen Wednesday from a home on West First Street in Purdon. Total value of the items was $370.

At least 51 people were killed, including at least 20 children, and those numbers were expected to climb, officials said Tuesday.

    MOORE, Okla. — A monstrous tornado at least a half-mile wide roared through the Oklahoma City suburbs Monday, flattening entire neighborhoods and destroying an elementary school with a direct blow as children and teachers huddled against winds up to 200 mph. At least 51 people were killed, and officials said the death toll was expected to rise.

  • CISD Trustees table architect proposal, hear bond feedback

    An outpouring of support from CISD teachers, and some advice for the next bond proposal from a local voter took up the public forum portion of Monday’s Corsicana Independent School District Board of Trustees meeting.
    District voters turned down a proposed $54 million bond package in the May 11 school and municipal elections. The bond would have paid for a new campus, security and building upgrades, new technology, baseball field improvements, and a new school administration building.

    Once again, teams from all over Navarro County gathered Friday evening at The Cook Center parking lot after months of fundraising events to see the culmination of their efforts toward cancer research.
    The goal?
    To raise enough money one day for research that a cure is found to end cancer.

  • 5-21 citizens police academy 2.jpg Citizen’s Police Academy on target for graduation

    Last week, the 18 members of the Citizens Police Academy came together to shoot guns.
    In a long caravan, they headed out to the police shooting range near the landfill where they were taught about the department’s rifles, pepper guns, and handguns. They were invited to fire the pepper gun, although it only contained harmless powder pellets on that day, and a handgun, both under the watchful eyes of instructors Officer Sean Eggleston and Asst. Chief Ronnie McGaha.
