Immaculate Conception Catholic Church  will hold a Summer Concert at 7 p.m. in the School gym featuring Rosita's Band.

Gospel Jubilee will be held at Martins Music Hall, 102 S. Beaton at 7 p.m. Gospel Jubilee is the fourth Saturday night of each month. Doors open at 6 p.m., and admission is $10 per person. Special guest for this performance is the Eternal River Band, as well as Shelly Buckley, Danielle Pillans, and Carolyn Cobb. They are joined by the Heavenly Highways Band, Elias Lowe, Gary Poe and Ricky Woodall.



The VFW Post 3366 will have a dance from 8 p.m. to midnight in the Ballroom. The Spur City Rounders will be providing your favorite country sounds. Band plays from 8 to 12 and admission is free. Donations are always appreciated to help pay the band. Remember, there is a dance on the last Saturday of each month. All are welcome.



Electronic Waste Clean-Up Event will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Old KMart parking lot, 3621 W. State Hwy. STS Electronic Recycling Inc. provides a free, safe and efficient means for recycling your electronic equipment. They can insure complete destruction of data. Eureka Crime Watch will hold its regular monthly meeting at 1:30 p.m. at the Eureka United Methodist Church. Guest speaker will be Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Kirby Hill. Blooming Grove Crime Watch will meet at 7 p.m. at the Blooming Grove Fire Station. The speaker will be Navarro County Judge H.M. Davenport Jr. Light refreshments will be served. Everyone is welcome.

These classese will be held on the second Tuesday of each month from 5 to 7 p.m. The Diabetes Self-Management Comprehensive Program is an ongoing class for patients diagnosed with diabetes. When Are We Going Home Ministry and its Rising Star Creative Ministry will be at the Break N Free Camp in Rice at 6 p.m. where there will be a Back to School party and Water Slide.



Navarro Regional Hospital’s Senior Circle will host an AARP Drivers Safety refresher course designed for drivers 50-plus and up, but is open to anyone. It will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Attendees may qualify for a reduction in automobile insurance premiums for three years upon completion of the course. Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1009 will meet at 7 p.m. at the Sirloin Stockade, 2508 West 7th Ave, Corsicana. Membership is open to U.S. armed forces veterans who served on active duty (for other than training purposes) in the Republic of Vietnam between Feb. 28, 1961 and May 7, 1975, or in ANY duty location between Aug. 5, 1964 and May 7, 1975. The veteran must submit a copy of his/her DD Form 214 along with the application and dues. Members and guest are invited to come early and eat and visit prior to the meeting.

  • City to consider rules for airport, swear in new attorney

    The Corsicana City Council will swear in the new city attorney, and consider requests for money from local charities when the group meets in regular session at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the council chambers of the Government Center, 200 N. 12th St. The new city attorney will be Kerri Anderson Donica. She ran unopposed for the position, along with Municipal Judge Mike Russell.

    People who were missing in the wake of the destructive tornadoes in North Texas have been found safe, officials said Friday, but they didn't indicate when residents of one hard-hit neighborhood will be allowed to return to survey damage to their homes.

    The renovation of the Corsicana Police Department got a bit more involved than it was originally intended to. An error with some concrete resulted in water flooding city hall, and forcing replacement of carpeting and flooring. As well, the renovations quickly led to renovations of the municipal court, as well.

    For the third straight year, Bowie students and faculty have “Teamed  Up to Fight Cancer” — and each team was armed with a catchy name, a sports theme, and its own banner and sporty accessories. Bowie Elementary School is an important part of the success of American Cancer Society’s Navarro County Relay for Life. This year, they raised $4,100.52 for cancer research, bringing their three-year total to over $15,000.
