Commissioners Court to meet Monday

Corsicana — The Navarro County Commissioners Court is scheduled to meet in special session at 10 a.m. Monday in the County Courtroom of the Navarro County Courthouse.

Agenda items for the commissioners:

• Consent Agenda.

• Consideration of approving acceptance of grant revenue in the amount of $137,500 from Navarro Community Foundation.

• Consideration of Burn Ban.

• Consideration to approve County Treasurer’s report for December 2012.

• Consideration to approve the Tax Collection Report for December 2012.

• Consideration to approve seven vehicle mount radios, two hand held radios and three chainsaws as salvage for Pct. 1.

• Consideration to approve five vehicle mount radios as salvage for Pct. 3.

• Consideration to approve the use of Navarro County inmates for public service projects.

• Consideration to approve request for a courthouse security evaluation.

• Consideration to approve updated financial report from the Correctional Food Service Provider, Five Star Food Service.

• Consideration to approve the transfer of Sheriff’s Office vehicle to the Navarro County Constable Pct. 3.

• Consideration to approve WiFi access for the Navarro County Courthouse with a quote from AT&T.

• Consideration of authorizing County Auditor to sign Pattillo, Brown and Hill engagement letter for FY 2012 audit.

• Consideration of approving assets purchased by the North Texas HIDTA for use by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office.

• Consideration of approving County Auditor’s October and November 2012 monthly financial reports.

  • City to consider rules for airport, swear in new attorney

    The Corsicana City Council will swear in the new city attorney, and consider requests for money from local charities when the group meets in regular session at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the council chambers of the Government Center, 200 N. 12th St. The new city attorney will be Kerri Anderson Donica. She ran unopposed for the position, along with Municipal Judge Mike Russell.

    The Corsicana ISD Board of Trustees will consider selecting an architectural firm for the new middle school when the group meets in regular session at 6 p.m. Monday, 601 North 13th Street.

    People who were missing in the wake of the destructive tornadoes in North Texas have been found safe, officials said Friday, but they didn't indicate when residents of one hard-hit neighborhood will be allowed to return to survey damage to their homes.

  • Police department open house Tuesday

    The renovation of the Corsicana Police Department got a bit more involved than it was originally intended to. An error with some concrete resulted in water flooding city hall, and forcing replacement of carpeting and flooring. As well, the renovations quickly led to renovations of the municipal court, as well.
