Corsicana —
Corsicana Technologies recently donated $5,000 to the Opening Doors to Success Scholarship fund administered by the Navarro College Foundation.
This is the third such donation to the fund from Corsicana Technologies. The scholarship is awarded to qualified first generation students attending Navarro.
Currently 40 students participate in the program, said Dr. Tommy Stringer, executive director of the Navarro College Foundation
“We appreciate the loyal support Corsicana Technologies has provided to the Opening Doors to Success program,” Stringer said. “We have seen some truly life-changing results from recipients of this scholarship.”
Navarro College will host its annual “Elegance” fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Cook Center at Navarro College.
This year’s event is titled “Evening of Dreams — Celebrating Education.” Guests at the fun-filled, black tie gala will enjoy fine dining, socializing, and participating in both a live and a silent auction. A local team of culinary experts coordinated by Tom Adams of Victorian Sample will provide the evening’s fine dining experience.
Through the generosity of its donors and supporters, the Navarro College Foundation awarded $200,000 scholarships in the 2011-2012 academic year to assist students in paying tuition and purchasing textbooks and other instructional materials.
